Accell #14 (Lion Forge)
Infinite Speech: I like the hero but the villain I could care less about because he just seems like some run of the mill scrub that we’ve seen before.
Amazing Spider-Man #5 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Glad I played the video game to get a good Spidey story.
NickZ: It’s obvious that Spencer and Ottley are having too much fun making this series and that is what makes reading it so enjoyable!
Astonisher #10 (Lion Forge)
Infinite Speech: Christopher Priest has taken my second favorite Catalyst Prime title to another level and that cliffhanger was insane!
The Beauty #23 (Image)
NickZ: A very action packed issue for this series that ends on a tense cliffhanger!
Catwoman #3 (DC)
Infinite Speech: WHOA! Selina’s life is crazy and just in case you didn’t know, Joelle Jones and Laura Allred are a fantastic art team!
NickZ: Jones is really putting Selina through the ringer both emotionally and physically. Meanwhile, the depths of Raina’s evilness is revealed!
Cemetery Beach #1 (Image)
Infinite Speech: Warren Ellis has me hooked in the first issue so can we get the second one now, please?
Champions #24 (Marvel)
NickZ: While I am all for addressing these kinds of social and political issues, this came off too much like an after school special for my taste.
Darth Vader #21 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: This look into who Vader is and his evolution has been one of the best Star Wars titles Marvel has put out.
Detective Comics #988 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Really great art by Segovia, but the tone of Batman and Gordon just seems “off.” Robinson is a really great writer, but I’m hoping that this doesn’t turn into another Wonder Woman debacle.
NickZ: I love that Bruce has been so shaken by recent events that he feels he needs to go back to basics to find himself again.
Domino #6 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Hats off to Gail Simone and David Baldeon for an opening arc that’s going to have me stick around for the next one!
NickZ: This first arc was a really fun and interesting look into Domino, her past, her powers, and her personality! I can’t wait to see what Gail Simone has planned next for us!
Fantastic Four #2 (Marvel)
NickZ: We get to see what Mr. Fantastic and the family have been up to this entire time and some very interesting things come to light about Franklin and his god-like abilities!
Farmhand #3 (Image)
Infinite Speech: Rob Guillory is writing some crazy and personal stuff here and it’s one of the best new titles I decided to pick up! The giant monster dog deserved what he got though.
NickZ: If you aren’t reading Farmhand, you need to correct that immediately! Rob Guillory’s humor and unique story telling make for a super entertaining book!
Flash #54 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Did not expect that ending but I’m gonna need Barry to get his life together because this slump is starting to drag.
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Man, I am SO TIRED of Barry and Flash being written as some angry tool who can’t get along with anyone. Where is the Barry that made me a fan of the character to begin with? It’s even more striking when he isn’t written as a clown in the Superman titles.
Hawkman #4 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Hawkman’s comic history is so confusing to be almost annoying, but this series is helping to draw on his jumbled history to make the confusion enjoyable. The cameo by Shayera was fun.
Iceman #1 (Marvel)
NickZ: Iceman is back! And it looks like he’s going to need some help from his amazing friends to deal with some sinister frost!
Immortal Men #6 (DC)
Martin: 2/5 stars. Such a disappointing finish for a book with such interesting ideas. I loved idea of the 5 different houses, and the “team” of Immortal Men had intriguing characters, but we didn’t get to learn enough about any of it.
Infinity Wars #3 (Marvel)
NickZ: It appears that Gamora found a better way to make Thanos dreams come true!
Ninjak #11 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: This will probably not end well for Ninjak but even if it doesn’t, Christos Gage will make it worth checking out.
Oblivion Song #7 (Image)
NickZ: Nathan’s shocking confession has changed things for everyone!
Old Man Logan #47 (Marvel)
NickZ: Logan gets one final adventure with his Alpha Flight buddies before he sets off on his last great adventure!
Peter Parker: The Spectacular Spider-Man #309 (Marvel)
NickZ: If you ever wondered what Spidey would do with Sandman’s abilities then this is the book for you!
Plastic Man #4 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Simone expertly continues to balance comedy, mystery, and hard-boiled noir sensibilities in this series. I’m disappointed that it’s only a six-issue mini-series, and I hope to see more of Simone’s Plastic Man in the rest of the DCU.
Red hood and the Outlaws #26 (DC)
NickZ: Jason has officially turned his back on the teachings of Batman. I don’t see how he can come back into the fold after all of this is over.
Star Trek TNG Terra Incognita #3 (IDW)
NickZ: The Tipton’s nailed this story! It truly felt like an episode of TNG with Selar having to wrestle with her Vulcan beliefs vs what is the most logical course of action.
Supergirl #22 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. It’s not often I find myself speaking out-loud to characters when I’m reading a comic, but that’s how much this story sucked me in – I wanted Kara to do things differently. That said, I still don’t get WHY she couldn’t just be upfront with the GL Corps.
Superman #3 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. That the one-page Adam Strange cameo was my favorite part of this entire issue is quite telling. I’m a bit tired of “faux-Doomsday” Rogor Zaar in this series. Leave him to Supergirl’s investigation, and do something more interesting with Superman.
NickZ: Still not feeling anything particularly great about this book
Titans #25 (DC)
Martin: 2.5/5 stars. A mediocre “anniversary” issue at best. While I’m glad that NIghtwing and Miss Martian seem to have finally worked through whatever forced issues they were having, I have no interest in seeing what comes next.
NickZ: Nightwing and Miss Martian seem to have come some sort of understanding and possibly more?
Venom First Host #3 (Marvel)
NickZ: Just what we needed, a new Venom spawn with even greater abilities, at least it seems to be on the side of good for now!
The Weatherman #4 (Image)
Infinite Speech: That opening action sequence was just as great as the new reveals in this issue! You should definitely be picking this one up!
The Wicked + the Divine #39 (Image)
NickZ: This whole Persephone twist is something i didn’t see coming. Going into the final stretch of this series, I honestly have no clue what is going to happen!
Wildstorm: Michael Cray #11 (DC)
Infinite Speech: I’m upset that this is almost over. I hope Hill and Harris can revisit this world again.
Wonder Woman #54 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Part of me wonders if I’m rating this so highly because the bar was set so low with Robinson’s run (which sucks because I normally like him). The dichotomy between Diana & Artemis is interesting, but personally I would like more focus on Diana.
Wrong Earth #1 (Ahoy Comics)
Infinite Speech: Peyer and Igle give us the superhero version of that old saying “It ain’t where you’re from. It’s where you’re at.” and it’s a great debut issue!
X-Men Blue #35 (Marvel)
NickZ: As the out of time X-Men prepare to say goodbye to this timeline and possibly lose everything they have learned, they each have a visit with their adult counterpart to some interesting results especially for Scott.
X-23 #4 (Marvel)
NickZ: When this is over I’ll be surprised if Laura doesn’t kill one or more of the Cuckoos!
