Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 08/16/17

Adventure Time Comics #14 (Boom!)
NickZ: You cannot miss Lumpy Space Princess as the Bachelorette!

All-New Guardians of the Galaxy #8 (Marvel)
NickZ: Marcus To sure can draw some stellar space fights!

American Gods #6 (Dark Horse)
NickZ: They made this comic and the TV show different enough that you can enjoy both without it feeling repetitive.

Aquaman #27 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Putting Sejic on this title was a brilliant idea and the story is just as fantastic!

Astonishing X-Men #2 (Marvel)
NickZ: This story just gets more and more interesting! I can’t wait to see where this is going.

Batman #29 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. A very odd, unexpected, and somewhat outlandish premise, but it’s executed in a fun, nearly believable way.
NickZ: I dare you to find a dinner party that tops the one Bruce Wayne has in this issue, it’s literally to die for!

Batwoman #6 (DC)
NickZ: WTAF!?! Bennett and Tynion have some major explaining to do!

Dark Knights Metal #1 (DC)
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. The real treat is Snyder & Capullo back on a Bat-book. Then you add in a great story & surprise ending!
NickZ: This book is bat-s*** crazy in the best possible way!

Descender #23 (Image)
NickZ: There is already so much death and destruction and this is only the second part of “Rise of the Robots”!

Divinity #0 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: A jumping on point that goes beyond and looks better than most zero issue comics!

Generations Wolverine & All-New Wolverine #1 (Marvel)
NickZ: Laura made Logan look like a chump.

Generation X #5 (Marvel)
NickZ: This was the first time that I have found Eye-Boy even remotely interesting. They really found a clever application of his abilities.

Green Arrow #29 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Fantastic & fun panel layouts and character designs, & an interesting look at how GA’s & Batman’s styles differ.

Green Lanterns #29 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. Great art, and I still really like Jessica’s character, but this felt like padding. Get to the main story.

Invincible #139 (Image)
NickZ: This is the first issue of “The End of All Things”, that actually feels like it’s THE END OF ALL THINGS!

Justice League #27 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. I do like the IDEA of this children from the future story, but almost the entire issue is just background.
NickZ: These kids come from a very interesting future, that being said, I hope it never comes to pass.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Thunderbolt Vol. 4 (Viz)
Infinite Speech: Another solid Gundam series!

Nightwing #27 (DC)
NickZ: The spy thing was cool for awhile, but I was glad when Dick got back to basics. I hope this Spyral thing doesn’t go on too long.

ROM #12 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: If you’re not reading this series then you’re missing out on some of the best sci-fi action in comics.

Secret Weapons #3 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: This is too good to just be a miniseries!

Southern Bastards #17 (Image)
Infinite Speech: It’s been a long and worthwhile wait for this series to return!

Spider-Men II #2 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Taskmaster is a great villain for a reason and should be around a lot more.

Star Trek TNG Mirror Broken #3 (IDW)
NickZ: The Next Gen crew are badasses in any universe! This series is beyond awesome!

Superman #29 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Horror themes are always fun in Superman books, and this is no different. It’s a little too “90’s” for me, though
NickZ: What a great story idea! I’m surprised that no one has thought of doing it before.

Super Sons #7 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. There’s a sense of fun in this book that represents Rebirth’s best. Old Damian, Jon a Titan, Dustin Nguyen cover!
NickZ: The Teen Titans should just kick Robin off the team and replace him with Superboy, already!
Infinite Speech: I don’t read this series often but whenever I do it’s great!

Totally Awesome Hulk #22 (Marvel)
NickZ: It looks like Amadeus and the Weapon X crew were a better genetic match than they are a social one.
Infinite Speech: This is one crazy event and I’m here for all of it!

Trinity #12 (DC)
NickZ: So the trinity of trinities becomes a quadrinity* of trinities!?! (*I’m not sure if that is even a word.)

Wonder Woman #28 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Good mix of action & some more character-driven parts as Diana focuses on Etta Candy’s recovery.

X-Men Blue #9 (Marvel)
NickZ: Jean and Emma fighting over Scott, some things never change!
Infinite Speech: I could have picked up a really cool indie title but I grabbed this instead. Don’t be like me.
