4001 A.D. Warmother #1 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: A badass new character, a sentient gun, and Fred Van Lente & Tomas Giorello deliver one of the best new comics from Valiant!
Animosity #1 (AfterShock)
Infinite Speech: Marguerite Bennett is KILLING it right now and the comic industry is better for it!
Aquaman #4 (DC)
Arnab: I know we’re all supposed to be like, oh no Mera overreacted. But like, I would have done the same, plus putting that snotnosed Chief of Staff in his place.
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Still enjoying the political intrigue in this book, although I’m hoping the N.E.M.O. subplot speeds up.
A Year of Marvels The Unstoppable #1 (Marvel)
NickZ: Two cute little stories featuring Nova and Bucky. Worth the five bucks? Meh.
Batman #4 (DC)
Arnab: It’s issues like this where I’m like, yup, that’s why criminals exist. If the government can just unleash hell with no repercussion, why would the criminal give a shit.
Martin: 4/5 stars. Reveals more about exactly what’s happening w/ Gotham (the hero) & reminds us that Gotham City is not a place of hope.
NickZ: NO, they did not try to recreate THAT scene from All Star Superman?
Batman Beyond #15 (DC)
NickZ: Tim Drake finally comes face to face with the recently resurrected Terry McGinnis!
Black Science #23 (Image)
NickZ: This reminded me of the scene where Wart meets Madam Mim in the Sword in the Stone!
Deadpool #16 (Marvel)
NickZ: It’s a flashback Solo adventure! (See what I did there?)
Deadpool v Gambit #3 (Marvel)
NickZ: Gambit and Deadpool compare their s*** days with each other and hilarity ensues.
Doctor Strange #10 (Marvel)
NickZ: “The Last Days of Magic” had a slightly anticlimactic ending but on the whole it was a great read!
Ghostbusters International #7 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: Once again this creative team keeps the Ghostbusters going in the right direction!
Green Arrow #4 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Continues to be 1 of the top Rebirth books. Adds more depth to the villains and the overall story arc.
Green Lanterns #4 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Humphries continues to delight w/ the fun banter between Simon & Jessica, & adds humor with a rogue guardian
Justice League #2 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. This book has to do a lot, from introducing the Baz/Cruz GL dynamic to the “new” Superman. It’s a tough job.
NickZ: This story feels so epic and Tony Daniel’s art is fantastic.
Kill or Be Killed #1 (Image)
Infinite Speech: I had no idea what to expect but damn this was one hell of a comic! Can’t wait for issue 2!
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. Did NOT go the way I was expecting. A unique look at depression & modern relationships with a twist.
Lady Killer 2 #1 (Dark Horse)
Infinite Speech: Lightening strikes twice as Josie Schuller returns as my new favorite assassin in one of the best titles from Dark Horse!
Moon Knight #5 (Marvel)
NickZ: “Welcome to New Egypt” was so insanely trippy that it made me go a bit crazy!
Nightwing #2 (DC)
Arnab: If you’re going to do Dick and Babs, do Dick and Babs. If you’re not, just leave them alone, they’ve been through enough.
Martin: 4/5 stars. Really great characterizations and backstory for Dick Grayson providing insight into how he thinks. Fun art style.
NickZ: This book is literally Grayson 2.0. The Parliament of Owls is just the new Spyral, Raptor is just the new Tiger, and well, Nightwing is just the same old Dick.
Paper Girls #8 (Image)
NickZ: Paper Girls is like Stranger Things except with time travel and girls.
Suicide Squad Rebirth #1 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. It’s way better than the movie, that’s for sure!
Street Fighter x G.I. Joe #6 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: The story lines I made up with my toys as a kid were better & made more sense.
Superman #4 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. It’s great having pre-New 52 Superman back, but this issue falters in spending too much time fighting Eradicator.
NickZ: What a strange take on the Eradicator but I’m still feeling this Superman and fam book. Also, you can’t go wrong with Bibbo!
Tokyo Ghost #9 (Image)
Infinite Speech: This series kicks your emotions all over the place and looks fantastic doing it!
Trees #14 (Image)
NickZ: Those damn black flowers! Things are looking bleak but Jason Howard makes bleak look good!
Vote Loki #3 (Marvel)
NickZ: Nisa represents the frustrations of everyone who is anti-Trump.
The Walking Dead #157 (Image)
Arnab: I think, probably for the first time, Rick is severely underestimating his enemy. Also, how weird is it to see him sitting on a couch on the eve of battle?
NickZ: There was a very ominous feel to this issue. I think the Whisperer War is going to be brutal!
