NickZ: I’m not sure Bane can carry his own miniseries or at least not without a better story than this.
Batman #22 (DC)
Arnab: The art went wonky at times, but the story was great.
Infinite Speech: Thomas Wayne makes another sacrifice for Bruce in another solid crossover issue! I’d like more Barry and Bruce next year, please.
NickZ: Feeling all the feels over this book! Every issue of this crossover has been fantastic!
Catalyst Prime: The Event #1 (Lion Forge)
Infinite Speech: Every now and then we get a comic that raises the bar on FCBD and THIS is that comic! And that cliffhanger came out of nowhere!
Champions #8 (Marvel)
Arnab: This has a Young Avengers feel and I like that. That book was the shit.
NickZ: The kids and this book are getting back on track. I particularly liked the development in Cyclops and Hulk’s relationship.
Hawkeye #6 (Marvel)
NickZ: Jessica Jones and Kate’s case ends with a confrontation with an actual dragon.
Iron Fist #3 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: This is getting better and I got vibes from an old kung-fu classic, The Crippled Avengers, when Danny faced an old K’un-Lun Iron Fist!
Jean Grey #1 (Marvel)
NickZ: Seems like it’s going to be a fun series but I still wish that it was about the regular adult Jean Grey or at least featured her in some way.
Nightwing #20 (DC)
Arnab: Dick makes Damian a better person.
NickZ: Damian and Dick are both at their best when they are together and this story just reminds us of that fact.
Noble #1 (Lion Forge)
Infinite Speech: A fantastic first issue that is off to a great start and ties into the FCBD Catalyst Prime comic but it stands on it’s own just as well!
Outcast #27 (Image)
NickZ: Thanks to Simon, Kyle is going on the offensive for the first time! I can’t wait to see how it goes!
Paper Girls #14 (Image)
NickZ: It looks like some bad-ass women from 3 different time periods are gonna kick some literal cavemen ass!
Poe Dameron #14 (Marvel)
NickZ: We finally get to see a good insight into Poe and Leia’s relationship.
Postal #20 (Top Cow)
Infinite Speech: HOLY $#@! Bryan Hill brings the heat this issue and I swear that Goodhart took it to another level in those last few pages with the art! GET THIS ISSUE!
NickZ: Mark finally chooses between the 3 women in his life and the results are downright deadly!
Secret Empire FCBD (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: What Cap does at the end might upset people more than the Hydra thing. But it makes sense since he’s done this in the past and he’s “always been Hydra”.
NickZ: I wasn’t planning on reading this series but this issue piqued my interest and it definitely got me more hyped for Chip Zdarsky’s Spectacular Spider-Man book!
Secret Empire #1 (Marvel)
Arnab: I’m particularly confused at how much time has passed. I get that mind control stuff is in the water, but like, it feels like years.
Infinite Speech: I liked the issue but was more annoyed with the stupid cover gimmick that most likely raised the price of the book.
SpongeBob Freestyle Funnies #1 (United Plankton Pictures)
Infinite Speech: This gets serious props just for calling out Diamond Comic Distributors for being a monopoly ON Free Comic Book Day! LOL!
Star Trek TNG Mirror Broken FCBD (IDW)
NickZ: THIS WAS THE BEST FCBD BOOK THIS YEAR! A must read for any Star Trek TNG fan! JK Woodward’s redesigns of these characters are perfection!
Superman #22 (DC)
NickZ: I always love how bad-ass Lois can be! She is no damsel in distress anymore!
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #69 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: Leave it to Old Hob to take things to the extreme so you know it’s about to be crazy. Glad to see Santolouco back on art for a while too!
Valiant: X-O Manowar FCBD Special (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: A great primer for anyone who hasn’t picked up the new X-O Manowar series!
The Walking Dead #167 (Image)
Arnab: Usually when a character dies all you’re left thinking is that she deserved better. Not this time. While I would have loved her to grow old, Andrea truly got the death she deserved.
NickZ: One of, if not THE BEST written issues ever! It was sad, haunting, but kinda beautiful too! That double page spread was probably my favorite moment in this series. I still get chills.
The Woods #32 (Boom!)
NickZ: Things are getting so crazy good! I need the next issue now!
X-Men Gold #3 (Marvel)
NickZ: All in all this was a good opening story arc for this new era of X-Men. Kitty is really taking the spotlight.
