Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 04/26/17

Action #978 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. I’m glad “real” Superman is back but this story trying to explain merging the New 52 Superman is unnecessary

Batgirl #10 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. I like the sense of fun, which is helped by the art, but found it odd that Babs would play ping pong with Penguin

Batman/The Shadow #1 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Wasn’t going to pick this up but so glad I changed my mind.
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. Fantastic art, & what could’ve been a cheap gimmick is instead a nice woven mix of 2 classic characters

Ben Reilly: The Scarlet Spider #1 (Marvel)
NickZ: I thought I could jump right into this book but I was wrong! I don’t know who these people are but they aren’t the Ben or Kane that I know and love.
Infinite Speech: One of the worst things to come out of the classic Clone Saga is still pretty horrible.

Bitch Planet #10 (Image)
Infinite Speech: It’s good to see these characters again but the erratic release schedule kills the momentum.

Black Panther #13 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: So T’Challa and Storm might be a thing again in a solid issue with new enemies.

Black Eyed Kids #12 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: This is still one of the creepiest comics out and I can’t wait to see how it ends!

Blue Beetle #8 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Complaints about wiping the New 52 Beetle’s origin away. I don’t care -I just want Ted Kord in the Beetle suit!

Detective Comics #955 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. There’s a lot of emotion in this story which focuses almost exclusively on Cassandra Cain. Art is sub-par.

The Flash #21 (DC)
Infinite Speech: This crossover proves we need more Batman and Flash stories.
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. Part 2 of “The Button” is even better than Part 1, & brings back some classic concepts like the Cosmic Treadmill!
NickZ: Another freaking amazing issue of the Batman/Flash crossover and don’t even get me started on that ending!

Joyride #12 (Boom!)
NickZ: In only 12 issues I fell in love with this group and their amazing adventures! I highly recommend that you do the same!

Justice League of America #5 (DC)
Martin: 2.5/5 stars. Batman probably has a big plan cooked up, but it’s taking too long to get there. Seems pointless.

Occupy Avengers #6 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Didn’t think I’d stick with this series but I’m here to stay!

Teen Titans #7 (DC)
Infinite Speech: More Aqualad, please. Oh, and did Kid Flash and Raven have a moment?
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. As an introduction to the “new” Aqualad, this works, but this iteration of the Teen Titans needs to gel better.

X-Men Blue #2 (Marvel)
NickZ: History really does repeat itself, I’m beginning to hate this Beast as much as I hate his adult counterpart.

X-Men Gold #2 (Marvel)
NickZ: They are really bringing back some old school X-Villains! I’m totally down with it!
Infinite Speech: Looks like the X books are off to a good start!

X-O Manowar #2 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Fantastic art and a story that kicks butt so picking this up was a no brainer!
