Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 02/22/17

Action Comics #974 (DC)
NickZ: For the first time this book failed to juggle having so many things going on in one issue. Also, “Clark” went from nice guy to super creep in seconds!

Batgirl #8 (DC)
NickZ: Batgirl spying on Barbara’s potential love interest is definitely something she learned from Batman.

The Beauty #12 (Image)
NickZ: This book is fantastic, I absolutely love it! Haun and Hurley made a one-off story that is better than entire arcs of other books!

Black Panther #11 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Shuri has become something else entirely and has stolen the show since her return

Champions #1.MU (Marvel)

Arnab:
At first I thought this was going to be a shit, throwaway tie-in, but it actually turned out to be decent.
NickZ:
This could have easily been a throwaway issue but they actually continued with the character and team building that’s been going on in the main issues.

Deadpool the Duck #4 (Marvel)
NickZ: A pretty unexpected revelation and the real mastermind behind this is finally revealed!

Deathstroke #13 (DC)

Infinite Speech: I guess the “death stroke” IS the best stroke. Priest took it there and you should be reading this!

Descender #19 (Image)
Arnab: If you’re not reading this book, you’re missing out on one of the best comic books out right now.
NickZ: I am so emotionally invested in these robots that i audibly yelled at Andy at one point in this story.

Detective Comics #951 (DC)
Arnab: Orphan is fucking amazing.
NickZ: Man, Tynion doesn’t give Gotham or the Bat-Family a single second of rest before the next calamity!

Extraordinary X-Men #19 (Marvel)
NickZ: Definitely a throwaway issue. I’m not even sure which battle was taking place here.

The Great Lakes Avengers #5 (Marvel)
NickZ:
Poor Bertha getting violated like that! I hope she makes them pay!

Infamous Iron Man #5 (Marvel)
NickZ:
What a tangled web this book has weaved. It’s so very good!

Inhumans vs X-Men #5 (Marvel)
Arnab: Ten bucks says this ends with them bottling up the mist like the ungrateful, selfish Inhumans should have done in the first place.
NickZ:
Things are moving very quickly into the climax and I have absolutely no clue how it is going to end.

Divinity III: Stalinverse #3 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: This is how you do a comic book event that pays off with every issue!

Flash #17 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Williamson wraps everything up even better than it started & he’s backed by a solid art team here!

Highlander: The American Dream #1 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: Glad to have these characters back and hopefully it gets better from here.

Jim Henson’s The Power of the Dark Crystal #1 (Archaia)
Infinite Speech: No FizzGig in this issue but the official sequel to the classic movie is still definitely worth picking up!

Joyride #10 (Boom!)
NickZ: Damn! Dewydd has become a little bad ass! I love the mix of action and heart in this book!

Justice League of America #1 (DC)
Infinite Speech: I see that he’s necessary for now but I hope Batman leaves soon.
NickZ: I had high hopes for this book but this first issue was sub par at best.

Mosaic #5 (Marvel)

Infinite Speech: A very strong ending to the first arc and I’m willing to stick around and see where it goes from here.

Occupy Avengers #4 (Marvel)
NickZ: I love the idea of Hawkeye assembling this grassroots Avengers team with these lesser known characters.

Outcast #25 (Image)
NickZ: HOLY CRAP!! This issue was insane from start to finish! I think Kyle just found his Yoda! Or is it his Darth Vader?

Over the Garden Wall #11 (Boom!)
NickZ: The quest for Hero Frog is literally longer than the trip to Mordor in the Lord of the Rings!

Rough Riders: Riders of the Storm #1 (AfterShock)
Infinite Speech: Glass and Ollie get the crew back together and it’s so good to have ’em back!

Teen Titans #5 (DC)
Infinite Speech: This issue was a nice wrap up that shapes the new team and reminds us that Batman is a subpar father.
NickZ: This was a great arc to reestablish the Teen Titans with Damian in charge. Also, I love the “new” headquarters!

The Uncanny Avengers #20 (Marvel)
NickZ: Red Skull is so overpowered in this book, I just can’t get over it.
Infinite Speech: Some things still annoy me about Red Skull having Xaviers abilities. It’s mainly that Red Skull has Xavier’s abilities and wields them like a master telepath.

A Highlander and Dark Crystal comic is out? Talk about oldies lol It also looks like Inhumans Vs X-Men is another waste like the Avengers vs X-Men book.
