She was the first of the next generation. She would become the template that many have followed in her steps. She’s become a hero beyond the team she started with but loves to return to them here and there. So, who is Kitty Pryde and what’s her deal? Let’s find out!

Katherine “Kitty” Anne Pryde was born to Carmen and Theresa Pryde in Deerfield, Illinois. Here, Kitty lead a fairly happy life. As Kitty grew, she started to experience headaches, these were tied to her mutant gene awakening her phasing powers. This would lead to both the Hellfire Club and Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters seeking Kitty out to join their respective teams.

While both teams offered compelling arguments, it was the friendship Kitty was able to make with Storm of the X-Men that had her go to Xavier’s. Here, she would be the youngest student in a while, most of the students having been with the school since it’s inception or joining later in life. Kitty would find a mentor in Wolverine, a friendship that would prove to be life-long. Kitty would also gain an alien pet, a dragon-looking creature named Lockheed.

Even though Kitty had chosen Xavier over the Hellfire Club, Emma Frost of the Club would still seek to have Kitty join their side from time to time. This would lead to Kitty having a distrust of Emma for many years, especially when she would join the X-Men, years later.

Kitty would grow up among the chaos of being an X-Men and date members of varying teams she was a part of but never really finding anyone to stay with. Kitty also has a strong friendship with her former boyfriend, Colossus’s, sister, Illyana. Through all their adventures and experiences, these two have stayed close through it all.

Though the X-Men were her first team that she would find herself returning to many times over the years, her first foray with another team took the death of the X-Men for her to branch out. When many of the team was believed dead, Kitty would work together with several U.K. based heroes to form Excalibur.

By the time Kitty was college aged, she would decide to leave heroics behind to become as normal of college student as she could in Chicago. Sadly, her father would end up dead during an attack of the mutant nation of Genosha leading Kitty back to X-Men and joining Storm’s team. When the school is lead by Cyclops and Emma Frost, it is Emma who requests Kitty join their team to better keep Emma in check since she would be suspicious of her already and it kept Emma from slipping into her old ways as well.

During this time, Colossus, who had died several years prior in a mission, had returned, leaving the pair to try dating once more. Their reunion would be cut short as a massive bullet was aimed at Earth and Kitty would sacrifice herself, allowing the bullet to phase through the planet safely but getting stuck along for the ride. It would take the efforts of Magneto nearly killing himself to bring the bullet close enough to Earth allowing Kitty back and destroying the bullet in the process. Stuck in her phased form for a period, having spent so long in it to survive riding the bullet, she would eventually become tangible after several missions.

Wolverine would decide to start a genuine school for mutant children without any military training going on behind the scenes and asked Kitty to come teach at the Jean Grey School. Soon, Kitty found herself not just teaching but the new headmaster as Wolverine found the leadership role of a school not to his liking. This would lead to Kitty feeling underappreciated by her friends and would leave for Scott’s school.

During a time when the original X-Men had been time-tossed, Kitty took it upon herself to look after them and when young Jean Grey was kidnapped by aliens, Kitty would team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy to rescue her. After the rescue mission, Kitty would stay in contact with Peter Quill and the two would begin dating long-distance.

This relationship would eventually lead to Kitty teaming up with the Guardians again, even being asked to marry Peter and she would say yes. During this time, Peter would become busy running a planet, leaving Kitty and the rest of the Guardians without him. Kitty would decide to take on the name of Star-Lord and work with the Guardians on missions. Eventually, Kitty and Peter would part ways, realizing their lives were too hectic for such a thing.

Back on Earth, Kitty would return and be offered to lead her own team of X-Men by Storm. Taking control, she would finally be leading an X-team full time. She and Colossus would get back together and also get engaged but Kitty would step out at the last minute, realizing once more, their lives are too hectic despite their love.

When mutant kind began a massive move to the island of Krakoa, Kitty would go to join her friends. She would try to, for whatever reason, Kitty could not enter the portals around the world that could allow mutants to enter Krakoa quickly. Forced to go by ship, Kitty would be enlisted by Emma Frost to captain a ship and team, the Marauders, to free any mutants around the world who may be held captive for being mutants. Frost would dub her the Red Queen, effectively getting her wish, finally, of Kitty joining the Hellfire Club as a leader. It is at this time that she would change her name from Kitty to Kate and start sporting a long red coat.

There you have it! Kitty Pryde, or Kate Pryde nowadays, rather, has been an X-Men for over forty years now. She’s been on the big and small screen, animated and live-action. Where she’ll end up next is anyone’s guess. See you next time!

Troubled family lives are common place for heroes, Shang-Chi is unfortunately familiar with it. When you’re raised to be a great warrior only to realize your whole world was a lie, what would you do? Shang-Chi definitely feels like he’s done his best with what he was given. So, who is this man and what’s with his family? Let’s find out!

Shang-Chi is the son of Zheng Zhu, more infamously known as the villainous Fu Manchu. Born and raised in China’s Honan province, under the tutelage of martial arts masters and other teachers, Shang-Chi would be trained from a young age. By the time he was an adult, Shang-Chi was ready to work for his father in his work. Shang-Chi was unaware that his father was actually a villain, he was taught that his father’s dealings were to make the world a better place, just never who it was actually bettering, the goals of his father.

It would be his first mission out to take care of someone his father had told him was a real threat to the world. When he arrived to his target, ready to kill, he would be confronted with his father’s archenemy, Sir Denis Nayland Smith. This man would show Shang-Chi the damage and truth behind his father’s actions, he was an immortal sorcerer who had been harming others for his own power for centuries. Shaken by this revelation, Shang-Chi would vow to fight against his father and those who served him.

Working with Smith, Shang-Chi would begin a globe-trotting life of facing off against threats made by his father. Years would be spent taking on all manner of dangers, including family members, until finally going up against the man himself. Appearing to actually kill his father, Shang-Chi would retire from adventuring and go off to live in seclusion as a fisherman. It would be years before he would feel ready to return to helping out as a hero once more.

When he finally felt comfortable with himself again, Shang-Chi would rejoin his old allies in helping others. During one adventure, he would get poisoned and was saved by the same potion that made his father immortal. It would turn out his father’s immortality was no joke and the man had returned with a half-brother Shang-Chi was only now aware of. Shang-Chi and company were able to stop his father’s machinations but his half-brother would be killed by Zheng Zhu.

Deciding he wanted to settle in one area for a bit, he would join the Heroes for Hire company where he felt at home with fellow martial artists. Sadly, one of his teammates would betray the team and the consequences of that would lead to Shang-Chi having to kill the betrayer to save his other teammates. Feeling disgusted with himself for having to resort to killing once more.

Shang-Chi would go on to work with MI-6 on and off along with many heroes, like Spider-Man, even getting spider powers along with the rest of Manhattan. His work with Spider-Man would lead to him teaching some kung-fu to the wall-crawler. He would also aide Iron Fist in helping to rescue the other Immortal Weapons who were at risk of being eaten by a demon who sought to gain power from their mystical titles.

More and more of his adventures were having him team up with masked heroes and joining teams. Shang-Chi would help fight off magical beings during the War of the Realms in which realms such as Jotunheim and Muspelheim all worked together to invade Earth. Eventually, Shang-Chi would team up to form a new Agents of Atlas to travel the planet once more. His globe-trotting lead to him wishing to find a more permanent home and he would quit the team and move to San Francisco.

Never a dull moment, Shang-Chi would learn of the Five Weapons Society, a secret order his father had started centuries ago. He would learn of this and his place as its new leader by even more half-siblings he was meeting for the first time. Due to his training, from his time with his father, he was meant to be known as “Brother Hand”. With barely any time to recover from all this news, Shang-Chi would be chosen by the Phoenix Force to compete against other heroes for the right to be the newest host of the Force.

There you have it! Shang-Chi has been around since the 1970s in Marvel comics and been one of its most capable fighters. He will be making his big screen debut soon in the coming months. Where Shang-Chi will go next is anyone’s guess. See you next time!

When you have millions of people to protect, you start to come up with interesting ideas. Judge Dredd is one such idea and probably the best that Mega City One could have ever hoped for. So, what is the idea that made Dredd possible? What are Mega Cities? Let’s find out!

During the 2030s to 2050s, the world would go through many global wars that would lead to the formation of Mega Cities, vast, walled off cities that would encapsulate what was once several states in America. Outside the walls were the Cursed Earth, a wasteland desert where scavengers tried to survive in the vast nothingness. To combat crime, a new form of law keeper was designed, the Judges. These individuals would be not only police, but judge, jury, and executioner, when needed. Able to mete out justice as they saw fit with their high-tech Lawgiver guns at their side.

Joseph Dredd was part of a cloning program, alongside his brother Rico Dredd, they were cloned from Chief Judge Eustace Fargo, who was the first Chief Judge of Maga City One’s Judges program. Joseph and Rico were born with accelerated aging, they were effectively born with the development and bodies of a five-year-old, then aging as normal people do. Their last name, Dredd, was chose for optimal psychological warfare against crime.

By the time the two were reaching their tenth birthday, they were already fighting in the Atomic Wars as temporary Judges. It was at this time that Joseph and Rico would meet their “father” who was believed dead but had been hidden away from the population. They would protect their father during the war until he could be cryogenically frozen, to be preserved due to being mortally wounded that their science was yet to repair. Joseph took to heart his father’s concerns of the Justice Department and the role they could play in forming Mega City One’s society.

When the war ended, the boys would continue with Judge academy and excel in their training, with Rico finishing top of their class and Joseph in second. While the two become well regarded Judges, Joseph uncovers that Rico had gone corrupt with the power given to him. Joseph would be the one to bring in Rico and have him sentenced to twenty years on a Jupiter prison colony. When Rico’s time was served, he would return to Earth and demand a duel with his brother, only to lose due to not being accustomed to Earth’s gravity yet.

Joseph’s reputation as a Judge was seen as incorruptible and the perfect example of his title. Thanks to his quick thinking and skill, Joseph is able to not only save Mega City One time and time again, but even the world when World War IV occurs. Spending decades upon decades of his life to the cause, the Judges often plead for Joseph to take the role of Chief Judge but he declines.

Realizing that Joseph was not only getting older but also more torn apart due to the hazards of the job, he had gotten cybernetic eye replacements after losing them in a fight. The Judges’ council would request that Joseph got through a “rejuve” treatment, making his seventy-two-year-old body regenerate to that of a much younger man. Joseph would begrudgingly accept, knowing he could serve the city better if he was spryer.

Knowing how much he means to the Judges; Joseph has used his career as leverage to help promote rights for mutants in the city or he would quit if nothing changed. Though he kept the words of his “father” a secret, Joseph did grow to see what the man feared and try his best to steer it away from such corruption. His father would even be unfrozen, sharing with Joseph that he now regretted the entire Judge program, wishing it never existed, having seen how dictatorial it had become, even with Joseph’s nudging against it as best he could within the system. The man would die, with Joseph keeping his final words a secret as well. While Joseph had gotten used to being the only clone of Eustace after he had to kill Rico, he would also learn that more clone “brothers” had been grown, some he would have to fight and others he would take on an older brother role to, ready to help raise the next generation of Eustace clones to help keep Mega City One, and perhaps, the world, safe.

There you have it! Judge Dredd has been fighting crime for forty-five years in our time and far, far more, in his own. There have been two big screen live-action adaptations of him so far with an animated mini-series and a future animated series on the way. Who knows what Judge Dredd will face off against in the future! See you next time!

Linear time is easily taken for granted, often times cursed at for being unable to turn back time. In realities where it’s somewhat easier to fudge with time and the flow of it, you might need a group who can try and deal with shenanigans. The Time Variance Authority is Marvel’s attempt to solve that problem. Who are they and how well do they do? Let’s find out!

Residing in the Time-Null Zone, where time is incapable of being interfered with, the Time Variance Authority watch across the multiverse and time for any anomalies. The organization is made by its director, Mr. Alternity, quite literally made as clones of the man himself. Each branch lower than him is another clone of Alternity with their own name and role within the Authority. There are the Chronomonitors, faceless clones, each tasked to watch over their own timelines or realities, ready to alert the higher ups when something goes wrong.

When force is needed, the Minutemen are sent out, as the military force of the TVA, clones with cybernetic enhancements, they are often lead by someone of higher authority. While a vast majority of the TVA are clones, they are more than willing to pluck out independent contractors they can use from across the multiverse and time. Often times, this is when they’ll work with heroes, or even villains, who prove to be of value to their services.

While the Time Variance Authority will work with all manner of people, they also have struggles with many as well, as is the way when you try to keep order from turning into chaos. Sometimes this requires trials to be sure that they do not pass a sentence lightly. An example of such a sentence is when a timeline or reality is deemed too dangerous for the rest of existence. Those found guilty of such a crime are destroyed and thus erased from the rest of existence to protect everyone else from whatever threat they could pose.

If such a guilty sentence is given to an individual, they are to be hit with the Retroactive Cannon, erasing them from existence. This sentencing can be stopped if the defendant is able to aid in defending the TVA, such was the case for She-Hulk when her own case of saving a friend with forbidden future knowledge was interrupted by the villain, Clockwise, who she helped stop. Similarly, when people are brought in to work for the TVA, they often find themselves locked from returning to their own timeline due to their knowledge of future events in that reality. You may be relocated, like a time-tossed Witness Protection Program, to a reality where your knowledge of the future means nothing.

There you have it! The Time Variance Authority is gaining new notice due to their appearance in the latest Loki series trailer. This will be their first appearance beyond the pages of comics. We’ll have to wait and see what they are like on the small screen. See you next time!

There are heroes who use vast wealth to aid in fighting crime and super-powered threats. So it only makes sense that villains would do the same to further their goals while also making more money with it. Roxxon is one such company, but how does an oil company become such a threat to the likes of the Avengers and other heroes? Let’s find out!

Roxxon Oil Company struck it big in the 1930s, having gotten claims on some major oil reserves, this would cause its owner, Alexander Jones, to become a millionaire. As time went on Roxxon would buy up Republic Oil and Natural Gas, cementing its seat of power in the fuel game. Around this time, they would become a funder of S.H.I.E.L.D. but this was to give them a better public face since they also had secret ties to Hydra.

By the time Alexander’s son, Hugh, the company was more heavily involved in funding criminal workings than any of their S.H.I.E.L.D. funding days. Hugh would often get directly involved with heroes and villains but was never able to have any crimes stick to him. Regardless of his shady dealings and illegal actions, this just meant more earnings for Roxxon Energy Corporation, having now moved into all forms of power to get rich.

Hugh’s life became tied to the magical artifact, the Serpent Crown, which allowed him to have immense ability that he wanted to use for dangerous and selfish reasons. This lead to heroes and even some villains seeking him out to stop him. This tie with the crown didn’t just go away when it was taken away from him, the bond was forever, causing Hugh’s mind to slip away. Obsessed with regaining the crown, the Board at Roxxon would have him replace, there’s always new people ready to fill-in for money and power at the expense of others.

As CEOs would come and go at Roxxon, their goals for acquiring more wealth at any cost stayed the same. This would also cause them to gain the attention of other villains, who saw the company as a powerful acquisition for themselves. While these attempts had varying levels of success, the Board still ends up standing, ready to be lead by a CEO they find worth following. They may go up against Asgardians, Iron Man, or any other assemble of heroes, they want to make all the money by the end of the day, even if it means it has to be the last day.

There you have it! Roxxon have been a frequent threat in the Marvel multiverse. Whether on the big or small screen, they’ve had some impact on the story of heroes. They’ve recently been seen in the latest Spidey video game, Spider-Man: Miles Morales. See you next time!

By any means necessary is a dangerous way to go about living. Some organizations are infamous for going by these words til the bitter end. Shocker is one such group. Desiring to become more powerful than anyone else on the planet, they have the means to do it. So who are Shocker and what does it mean to be powerful? Let’s find out!

The Sacred Hegemony Of Cycle Kindred Evolutionary Realm or Shocker, are a shadowy organization that exists with their hands in nearly every major government, even having ties that go back to the Nazi Party, hence their similar iconography. They seek to better themselves through surgeries to become superhumans. This is mostly done through cybernetics, this allows even the most common foot soldier of Shocker to be more powerful than most regular people. They would also make Kaijin, human-animal hybrids as their lieutenants to lead their foot soldiers and carry out more complex missions.

To do this, there require test subjects. People who are either seen as an asset for their skills or just for the sake of new treatment testing. One is empowered, able to be come incredibly strong, fast, and durable. To ensure the allegiance of their new cyborgs, part of the process, which also makes them immune to pain, wipes their free will, becoming a perfect slave for Shocker.

This was common practice, kidnap test subjects for new procedures, if they survive, new foot soldiers and new techniques for all members to be upgraded with. If they die, then it’s time for new ideas, which could involve kidnapping scientists to force them to work for them in coming up with new concepts for Shocker’s higher ups to be improved with. Both of these practices would lead to their downfall.

Shocker would create its own greatest enemy, Kamen Rider, after kidnapping the wrong scientist and test subjects. Both would team up to escape and start a campaign against the conspiracy that is Shocker. Having learned nothing from their mistakes with creating Kamen Rider, they would seek to make their own Kamen Rider on purpose to fight for them against the original, this would become too perfect a replication as he would also escape to fight against them until their destruction. Though Shocker is never at their once former glory, they still arise in some form every now and again to have to deal with a new and different Kamen Rider, who is more than willing to shut them down once more.

There you have it! Shocker was the enemy of the original two Kamen Riders, the manga series and the live-action series had similarities with the manga getting a bit darker and more horrific. There are always some Shocker rebirths in a new Kamen Rider series here and there but who knows what the next one will look like and how powerful they will become? See you next time!

No matter how mighty your team may be, they tend to have to travel to locations they aren’t currently at. So sometimes it makes sense to make branches to better reach those in need. The West Coast Avengers were one such team, ready to aide the west as the core Avengers were often busy in New York. How did this all begin? Let’s find out!

During the Secret War, when many heroes and villains had been abducted to fight for entertainment, what heroes were left on Earth had the Vision and the US government scrambling to make sure the planet was protected. They gave Hawkeye and Mockingbird the right to form a team on the west coast of the United States.

The team would go on as many adventures as they would have teammate changes. Time travel would be a real test for the group causing its team leaders to separate as a couple but continue their best to maintain a working relationship. New members would join and leave after just a few adventures.

Even though the roster was in flux, the team seemed to revel in this, enjoying it’s casual membership. Some teammates would stay on as reserve members while others would join in almost as if it was a fun excursion. Given time, the Secret War had ended and the missing heroes were returned to Earth. This would eventually lead to the core Avengers team and the US government demanding the dismantling of the west coast branch, much to the chagrin of its members.

Years would go by and Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, would decide to restart the West Coast Avengers along with the help of Hawkeye, Clint Barton. Bringing in her boyfriend, Fuse, and her best friend, America Chavez, to fill up the roster. Bishop would begin Bishop would seek funding by bringing in member, Quintin Quire, who had a reality show crew with him that was willing to help fund a super team. Gwenpool would also join the team, bringing back the old team dynamic of this being a fun lark.

This new team was mostly made of twenty something heroes with the elder Hawkeye as a mentor. The life of heroes is perfect for reality TV and the team would go on several adventures together, all the while trying to make sure they have enough money to keep the lights on.

There you have it! The West Coast Avengers were meant to be a way of spreading the Avengers brand name when the team was at its smallest due to crossover events. It’s been sort of a fun idea with all sorts of drama mixed in. See you next time!

Animals can be heroes too. Who doesn’t love the feel good stories of animals saving each other or other species? So what’s cuter than an animal hero? An animal hero with powers! How do animals get powers? Let’s find out!

In a dimension similar to ours but where animals evolved into humanoids and tracked a similar history to our own world. They have a Linkidd Memorial in Waspington D.C. There’s a President Mallard Fillmore of the United Species of America. The animals lived there lives until a strange visitor from another dimension crashed in Follywood, Calfurnia, along with a strange meteorite that shattered in the atmosphere and went all across the planet.

These fragments would begin granting animals powers, some seeking to be heroes and others to become villains. The strange visitor was some sort of hairless ape calling himself Superman. Roger Rodney Rabbit was one of the first to discover his powers and decide to use them for good as Captain Carrot, having similar powers to Superman and seek to find the cause of this meteorite and human hero entering their world. As more animal heroes crawled out of the wood work, they would join forces and form the Zoo Crew.

It was finally figured out that Starro, an alien starfish that could possess people, was the culprit who caused Superman and the meteorite to crossover. The beam used to do this was also causing the animals of the planet to devolve into their ancestors, like their animal counterparts of Earth. While the Zoo Crew was new to team work with each other and their powers, they were able to stop Starro and help Superman return home.

While their visitor and invader were gone, the powers the heroes had gained were still with them. Realizing that the powers of other animals, less scrupulous than the Zoo Crew, were perfect for committing crimes, the team decided to stick together to help aide the world in its new powered threats. They would have their own dimensional crossovers, like meeting the JLA, Just’a Lotta Animals, to fight off threats to both realities.

Their adventures went on until the secret identity of team member, Little Cheese, was willingly revealed to the world. Thus began the dark era for the Zoo Crew. This action spurred the public to demand all heroes remove their masks and show who they were. This caused most of the Zoo Crew to go underground or retire. The only other hero to reveal their identity was Alley-Kat-Abra, who became a world famous stage magician with her powers.

Some were arrested for crimes they did not commit. Things only got worse when Chester Cheese, Little Cheese, was murdered. Captain Carrot was a suspect, things were only getting worse for the Zoo Crew. It would come to light it was actually Alley-Kat-Abra but not even the real one, she had been a magical duplicate made by one of the mystically inclined enemies of the team. It was too late, the damage was done, not only to the team itself, but to their public image, the world could no longer trust the Zoo Crew.

A Collar ID law was instated, demanding all heroes to be registered with the government and work for them. Worse still, Starro had returned and was now working with their own enemies to bring about the end of the world as revenge. The ice caps would melt the most of the team would lose their powers. The Just’a Lotta Animals would help them create an Ark to rescue the land animals from drowning in the flood and take them to their world but things got mixed up in the dimensional travel. The animals would be carried over to a different Earth, one where Superman was from. This caused the animals to turn from their humanoid sapient forms to be more like Earth animals. They would remain this way until the Final Crisis when they were able to be returned to humanoid form and the Zoo Crew were able to regain their powers.

There you have it! The Zoo Crew are some of the stranger denizens of the DC multiverse. What started as a silly adventure became a dark world of grim and grit. Sometimes comics can’t help themselves, even in parody. They would appear in video games and some TV but for the most part, they stick to comics. Where will the Zoo Crew end up next? We’ll have to wait to find out. See you next time!

Since Odin enchanted
the mighty Mjolnir to only be wielded by the worthy, that very concept has
become fascinating. Who is worthy? Are you? Am I? What characters are? One such
individual is Beta Ray Bill. Who is this scary horse faced being? How did he prove
to be worthy? Let’s find out!

Beta Ray Bill was
once a normal Korbinite of the planet Korbin, from the Burning Galaxy. Then
came Surtur and his fire demons, destroying the whole galaxy. Thankfully,
Korbinites were very advanced technologically, they were able to build ships to
escape their destruction, lead by the flagship, Scuttlebutt. They would also
need a champion to protect them from threats while the rest were in stasis for
their travels to a new home. Bill would be the only survivor of the experiments
to make a super soldier.

Gone was his plain
Korbinite looks, now, he had the visage of a deadly beast of Korbin, but was
strong enough to protect his people. The Korbinites took to space and flew off
with Bill protecting them from any trouble that could come there way. This was very
true as it came near Earth’s S.H.I.E.L.D. sensors, Nick Fury asked Thor of
Asgard and the Avengers to investigate. Thor’s Asgardian energy signatures is
similar to Surtur’s Muspelheim energy, activating the security of the
Scuttlebut.

Bill would face off
against the son of Odin and prove victorious, but he wouldn’t kill his
opponent. Instead, he’s intrigued by the hammer he wielded and finds out that
when he picks it up, he is worthy. Transformed once more, Bill becomes Thor,
gaining even more power on top of those he already have. This grabbed the
attention of Odin, impressed by someone, other than his son, was worthy of
Mjolnir. Odin held a competition between Thor and Bill to see who would wield
the hammer.

Once more, Bill
proved he was not only worthy, but capable of going toe-to-toe with Thor. He
would spare his life again, Odin was thrilled by this new hero, deciding that
Mjolnir would be returned to his son but Bill would be given his own hammer.
Stormbreaker, made from the same dwarf star Mjolnir was and with the same
abilities and Thor granting abilities. Bill was now more powerful than ever
before and would use it to help his people and the Asgardians.

Feeling indebted to
them, Bill would aide in Asgardian and Earthly endeavors when Thor asked of
him. This lead to tension with the Kenobites who had finally found a new planet
to settle on and were hoping to have their champion to protect them at all times.
Things would at least have a glimmer of hope, he was able to fight alongside
Thor and the Avengers to finally stop Surtur.

Becoming a cosmic
hero as well as Korbin’s champion, Bill would have many adventures in space. So
many, that when he returned home at one point, he would learn that his
predecessor in the Ray program, Alpha Ray, was ruling over. Bill would have to
fight him and while he stopped him, it was just as Galactus arrived to eat New
Korbin. Many Korbinite souls were lost, despite all Bill tried to do, the
Skuttlebutt saved him and was able to recover an orb that housed the some of
the souls of the Korbinites, for Bill to find a way to resurrect them.

While Bill sought to
revive his people and find a new home for them, he was mortally wounded in
combat. His life force would be stored in the body of a dead human war veteran,
Simon Walters, giving him the body as alive once more. This was done by sacrificing
the orb of Korbinite souls, unfortunately. Bill tried to make something of his
new life, still being a hero, just now Earthbound, teaming up with Omega
Flight, a government backed team of heroes from the U.S. and Canada.

Eventually, Bill was able to return to his Beta Ray form. This was around when the Skrull invasion of Earth was being discovered and he had to prove his worthiness to the Asgardians who feared he could be a fake. Deciding that to stop Galactus from ever doing what he did to the Korbinites again, he would destroy planets before Galactus could eat them, starving him. This lead to Bill being unworthy and losing Stormbreaker. It would take rescuing Galactus to gain the worthiness once more and Galactus would resurrect one female member of the Korbinites, Ti Asha Ra, to allow them to repopulate their species.

This new
relationship was weird for both Korbinites, having no connection before their
meeting here, but they decided to travel space together to figure things out.
Bill would join the Annihilators, to fill in for the missing Guardians of the
Galaxy. He would once again work with the Asgardians from time to time. When
Thor found himself unworthy for Mjolnir, Bill was able to help him realize that
he truly was if he accepted the truth of his deeds. Even joining the Guardians
of the Galaxy to aide in stopping the resurrection of Thanos.

There you have it! Beta Ray Bill is one of the more unique and interesting heroes to come from the cosmic side of things. One of the handful of individuals who can wield Mjolnir and was so worthy he got his own hammer. He’s been animated and almost appeared on the big screen and may yet still. Where Bill goes next is anyone’s guess, exciting any way it goes.
He went from lesser
known cosmic hero to a household name all with a single movie. He’s gone
through changes since his premiere but a few things have stayed the same for
the man who goes by Star-Lord. He’s a man who goes his own way and that way
loves outer space. So who is Star-Lord and how did he come to be? Let’s find
out!

Peter Jason Quill
was born to Meredith Quill of Earth and Emperor J’son of the Spartax Empire.
This coupling from beyond the stars was able to happen when J’son’s ship
crashed near Meredith’s home, neither knew she was pregnant when it was time
for him to go back to his own home planet. Meredith would give birth to Peter
under an alignment of the planets in our solar system.

As a young boy,
Peter would have a relatively happy childhood, finding a love for space and
science fiction. It would be that way until the Badoon, an alien invader
species, arrived to kill Peter, knowing his ties to the Spartax Empire.
Meredith would die, Peter would survive, no one believing him that it was
aliens, just that she was dead. Vowing vengeance, Peter strived to get to space
so he could hunt those responsible for his mother’s death.

When he got put into
the foster system, the only thing from his old life he was able to keep was a
toy gun he had found in his mother’s belongings, which was actually his
father’s old energy weapon. Peter would grow up to be a NASA mechanic, so he
could be close to the ships he loved so much. When no one was looking, Peter
used the astronaut testing equipment to prepare himself for interstellar
travel. When NASA was given access to a Kree space craft, Peter knew it was his
chance to make it off world. He would steal the ship and finally make his way
to the stars.

That is, until the
ship broke down, it wasn’t done with any repairs when NASA had gotten ahold of
it so Peter was stuck in space until a group of pirates, the Ravagers, found
him. The captain, Yondu, found Peter to be a kindred spirit in being a lost orphan.
Peter would join the crew and learn all he could about life in space.

He would learn about
many planets with life on them, he would learn where the Badoon were and begin
his quest for vengeance. Along the way he would have many adventures, even
obtaining a sentient ship named Ship as an ally. The two would come across a former
herald of Galactus, the Fallen One, who was planning on starving Galactus by
destroying all planets. Peter and Ship would be able to stop the Fallen One
from destroying a Kree planet, but in the process, had to kill a space station
with thousands of Kree and Ship.

Peter would be taken
to the intergalactic prison, the Kyln where he would stay until the
Annihilation Wars began. It was here that Peter was enlisted to lead a team by
the Nova Prime. This began Peter’s role as a leader in times of galactic
crisis. After two intergalactic wars, Peter was finding himself in charge of a
group of former prisoners, this would become a new Guardians of the Galaxy and
where many of his best friends and teammates would be found.

Often times, Peter
would go into dangerous or hopeless situations with his team and come out
victorious. One adventure almost spelled his doom though. A reality where death
had been defeated, meaning that all forms of life would grow unchecked, a
Cancerverse. This universe would come to invade Peter’s and along with many
heroes, would fight it back into their own realm. To save everyone, Peter would
lock himself, Nova Prime, and Thanos inside the Cancerverse with a Cosmic Cube,
protect their home dimension from the Cancerverse and Thanos.

This was not to
last, Peter and Thanos would find themselves back in their home dimesnion at
the sacrifice of Nova Prime. Peter would find the Guardians to rejoin them and
they would begin a recruitment program that often had them working with an
Avenger of Earth. While this was going on, the time tossed X-Men member, Jean
Grey was to be tried for crimes her future self would commit, Peter didn’t take
too kindly to this and helped free her.

J’son would make his
presence known in Peter’s life, only to make it harder for him when J’son would
demand Peter join him in ruling a portion of the galaxy. While Peter found
leading to be good and necessary when he lead small teams, he didn’t like the idea
of ruling an empire. This left his father vowing to get Peter to aide him, one
way or the other. This would lead to several attempts to trick or force Peter
into leading alongside his father, eventually Peter would take up the role of
leading the Spartax Empire, as its new emperor. Showing the Empire his father’s
shady ways and his own reputation preceding him, Peter became the new emperor.

This didn’t last
long and went as well as could be expected, Peter would end up out of office
and on the run, rejoining the Guardians of the Galaxy. When the second hero
civil war began, Peter join his friend and former Guardian, Captain Marvel’s
side. This would have him learn that Earth was keeping Thanos prisoner and that
didn’t go well with his other teammates when they found out.

Peter joins and
leaves the Guardians of the Galaxy and he, or the team, see fit. He’s begin
spending more time on Earth after years away. Even so far as gaining work there
for longer stays. Peter could end up back in space the minute the law gets to
hot for him, though.

There you have it!
Peter Quill has become a prominent figure in the Marvel universe after spending
years on the sidelines. His original intent was to be that so he could have
different kinds of stories until he was brought back a few years before his big
screen debut. Now, he’s been animated, in video games, and a character at
Disney theme parks. Where will he end up next? Who knows! See you next time!
