Fenix: A Cartoon In Review

nickelodeon-nick-uk-marvel-super-hero-squadNormally I just go home after working the graveyard shift and crash.  Not so this Saturday as Marvel launched its all new animated Super Hero Squad Show on Cartoon Network.  Who needs sleep when you have mini Marvel heroes kicking butt and taking names!

If you are looking for a serious super hero cartoon then move along people.  What you will get is lots of action, lots of humor and just lots of good safe super hero fun for kids.  Never fear though as this is one kid’s show that is packed with enough booger, fart, and burp jokes to make even older viewers get a kick out of it.  You also get a heaping helping of Marvel characters packed into this half hour show.  Heck just one of the episodes I caught had, in no particular order:  Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Wolverine, Ms. Marvel, Storm, Silver Surfer, Hulk, Falcon, Dr. Doom, Mole Man, the Abomination and Fin Fang Foom.  You also get a look at the heroes’ S.H.I.E.L.D. carrier which serves as their home and base of operations.  That is more bang for your buck than any sane person should pass up!

The basic premise of the show, is that resulting from a battle between Iron Man and Dr. Doom, the Infinity Sword shattered scattering shards over the surface of the earth.  Doom wants to reform the sword and take over the planet, and the heroes are out thwart Doom and his cohorts.  Did I mention that it was full of lots of juvenile humor?  It may be aimed at the 7-12 year old crowd, but come on people have a heart.  Who can’t get a kick out of the Hulk accidentally cramming himself up a giant monster’s nose and getting turned into an instant booger?

This fast paced lighthearted take on many of Marvel’s most recognizable characters is uber 9030header_banner9061199entertaining, and any episode that ends with the villain being smashed under Fin Fang Foom’s can is ok with me; especially when Foom busts out a grumpy on a squished Mole Man!  This is just what my Saturday morning needs!  On top of that, if you are one of those people that loves action figures and collectibles you can already get toys for this show, as they have been on the market for a while now.  Over all this was a very enjoyable hour spent just connecting with my inner kid!

OMG it was all kinds of kick arse! The opening alone was worth watching just to get a look at almost every major character all mini and all full of goodness! I am lucky that I have satellite so I can watch it on the west coast cartoon network station all over again!

Haha, I like how the figure for Nick Fury is labeled as a nondescript “SHIELD Agent.”

And of course there’s an over abundance of Spider-Man.
Some of those figures are adorable, but some of them are poorly done.

The cartoon sounds like something I’d hate, though.
