Beginning February 1st the digital airwaves will get an influx of cool as Misty Knight’s Uninformed Afro will make it’s debut! The new podcast is the brainchild of Jamie Broadnax, creator of Black Girl Nerds and Stephanie Williams, host of The Lemonade Show. Misty Knight’s Uninformed Afro will delve into an overlooked and underrepresented part of comic fandom, the Black super heroine. Sure you may have heard of Storm, Vixen, or even Misty Knight but there’s so many more out there that have been overlooked and unfortunately forgotten in comparison to their male counterparts.
“I wanted to take podcasting to another level with having a fun, yet informative discussion about Black superheroines,” says Broadnax. “We incorporate media clips as well as reference specific comic issues with titles, dates, and creators behind each book discussed. We’re here to shed light on these women in a way that hasn’t quite been done before.” – Jamie Broadnax
This will be a weekly series and will aim to entertain and educate fans about these characters. So if it’s anything like their exchanges on social media then you will definitely enjoy the show. They always seem to pull out knowledge about some obscure character, dive deep into the lore, and let the doubters know that they are definitely about this life! You also won’t just be getting the usual stats and recounts about these characters. If you want that then just go pick up one of the hand book guides and knock yourself out. But for some unique and real conversation about these super heroes then this is where you’ll want to look!
Misty Knight’s Uninformed Afro will be available to stream on Soundcloud, iTunes, and Stitcher so make sure you subscribe and follow them on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook!
