Back in 2016, Jerome Walford had an idea. To bring together a collection of creative individuals from across the globe and share their talents with us in the Award Winning Gwan Anthology. Now he’s doing it again with some help from around the world in the Gwan Anthology, Volume 2!
The book is currently in the middle of it’s Kickstarter campaign but we were given a preview of what’s to come in this huge, new volume. And like in the previous book you’ll be treated to the different flavors of storytelling from voices you might not have had the chance to experience before. Our preview included 7 stories along with poetry and several pieces of artwork. So after some words from Jerome himself, this world of artistic brilliance begins with a piece of art by John Jennings (shown below) and we get into our first tale, Satori by Johny Tay and James O’Reilly. A piece of beautiful sequential storytelling with a narrative that asks the important questions. There’s a story where a couple of colonizers get their comeuppance in Teef by Micheline Hess which is good for some laughs. A moving discussion on ancestry and influence in Ancestors from Miguel Guerra and Suzy Dias and a gripping tale of sacrifice in Unidentified by Jerome Walford, Eric Battle, and Bryan Valenza.
The themes are as diverse as the people behind the stories and in just the little we have seen, this new volume weaves a rich tapestry of art that everyone should be exposed to.
As before, there’s a bio for the artist or creative team included with each work complete with social media information so you can check out more from these creatives. What we got to see in these 71 pages was enough to convince us that Gwan Anthology, Volume 2 deserves to be in your collection so head over to the Kickstarter and make sure you own this one!
