Accell #7 (Lion Forge)
Infinite Speech: The art here is crazy as we get to know more about Accell’s powers. Glad to see things picking back up!

Action Comics #995 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. This has all of the classic makings of a 90’s style “buddy cop” type issue with Superman & Booster God, but there are some odd interactions between the two that don’t quite work. Art looks great.
NickZ: A can’t miss issue for all Booster Gold fans!

Astonisher #4 (Lion Forge)
Infinite Speech: Alex de Campi has me buying a series where I don’t like the main character but I’m totally digging the story! What a time to be alive!

Avengers #675 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: In all honesty if Pepe Larraz drew the Avengers at the grocery store for 22 pages I’d buy it. This was a nice kickoff to this event so let’s hope they stick the landing.
NickZ: I’ll never get accustom to seeing Rogue on the cover/being a leader in any Avengers book. That being said, do we really need another character we never knew about retroactively inserted into continuity?

Bloodshot Salvation #5 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Putting “Salvation” in the title is just a mean twist. Great issue though and having Ninjak as a friend comes in pretty handy.

Cable #153 (Marvel)
NickZ: A very fun book with a fun cast of characters and an interesting plot, looking forward to the next issue!

Darth Vader #10 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Jocasta Nu is my favorite new Jedi. But she’s facing Vader so pour out a little blue milk for her.

Detective Comics #972 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Tynion’s Rebirth-run of Detective has been great so far, partially due to the team of characters he has assembled. Two of the most “damaged” are Clayface & Cassandra Cain, and their interactions (such as in this issue) have been my favorite.
NickZ: Clayface, Batwoman, Red Robin, and Spoiler are all facing huge choices that could tear the team apart forever!

Flash #38 (DC)
Infinite Speech: I guess I’m a little behind because I thought the Rogues didn’t kill.
Martin: 4/5 stars. My hope is that this the return to a more “classic” Flash story that isn’t bogged down with so much depression and dark themes. This is a straight-up “Flash vs Rogues” issue, with a surprise ending that affects Captain Cold.

Mister Miracle #6 (DC)
Martin: 5/5 stars. The combination of King & Gerads on writing & art is perfect for this story. The interactions between Scott and Barda, as they discuss renovating their condo while battling into Orion’s throne room, are spectacular.
NickZ: Big Barda and Scott Free are the definition of #RelationshipGoals! Once again Tom King and Mitch Gerads have crafted a masterpiece of a comic book!

Ninjak vs the Valiant Universe #1 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: I’d still rather have the live action series but this will do for now.

Old Man Hawkeye #1 (Marvel)
NickZ: You can already tell that this series is going to be epic! A must read for fans of the original Old Man Logan and especially for any Hawkeye fans!

Phoenix Resurrection #3 (Marvel)
NickZ: After all the mystery, it seems Jean and the X-Men are finally about to get some answers!

Ragman #4 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Ragman is ripping through the bad guys while Etrigan’s rhyming gets to be slightly annoying. Still a great reintroduction to the character though.

Supergirl #17 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. The entire issue seems to focus on Kara trying to figure out the right balance between between Kara Danvers, student, and Supergirl, hero. It’s very heavy-handed and unfortunately not presented in a way that’s very engaging.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #78 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: Master Splinter as head of the Foot Clan is still just creepy and his new job is changing him.

Titans #19 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. So much potential for this book, especially given Pelletier’s art, but this is an odd follow-up to the “Troia nearly destroys the earth” arc. This book is at its best when the core characters interact, but the seems to be going on-hold for awhile.

Venom #160 (Marvel)
NickZ: I absolutely love Eddie taking charge and being so damn heroic in front of his two biggest naysayers.

Wildstorm: Michael Cray #4 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Expectations have been blown away with each issue as Bryan Hill has given me a Michael Cray worth reading about.

Wonder Woman #38 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. An origin issue for Silver Swan, told in a very relatable, almost sympathetic, way. Robinson’s also able to add some great character moments with Diana and her brother, Jason, all accompanied by Lupacchino’s great character art.

X-Men Blue #19 (Marvel)
NickZ: I love the way the young X-Men’s journey has comic full circle with the reveal of the true identity of their doppelgangers!

X-Men Gold Annual #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Come for the Excalibur reunion on the cover. Beyond that it’s just a decent done in one story. The back-up story is cute though.
NickZ: My first exposure to any version of the X-Men was reading Excalibur way back in the 80’s, so you can imagine my delight by this 30th Anniversary reunion issue with a remake of the classic first issue cover by none other than Alan Davis!
