Anime Fest 2014: Part 2: Interviews and Videos

Anime Fest 2014: Part 2: Interviews and Videos

Time for another round of Anime Fest 2014 coverage! If you joined me previously, I provided a run down of the event in general, along with photos from around the convention floor. Now it’s time for some interviews and videos! I was able to interview four voice actors this year: Kristen McGuire, Ian Sinclair, and Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt. I was also able to meet up with some press friends of mine, the excellent Zach and Krista from My Geek Confessions. Due to time and interview constraints, we opted to conduct our interviews together, so you will hear all three of us in the audio.

The videos include footage from Saturday night’s Semi-Formal dance and Sunday night’s cosplay event (skit shows and Ani-Idol winners). The third part of my A-Fest coverage will be all cosplay, so be sure to return!

Kristen McGuire is part artist, part writer, part voice actress, and all pleasantness. We talked to her about her self-published comics and her new career as a voice actress! You can take a gander at her comics on her website, and she also frequents convention floors to sell her original work.

Next up, voice actor Ian Sinclair! Ian can currently be heard in the Space Dandy series airing on Cartoon Network as the title character.

And finally, a joint interview with Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt. Both can be heard in a plethora of shows, both Japanese and American in origin, as well as video games, and the occasional television show or film. They have written a book together called Voice-Over Voice Actor: What It’s Like Behind the Mic, and in 2004 founded an indie film production company called Monkey Kingdom Productions.

And now some videos! First up is some footage from Saturday night’s Semi-Formal ball, then the skit shows, then the Ani-Idol performances.

Don’t forget to come back for photos of some amazing cosplay!
