Albany Comic Con: Upstate Flood Relief Auction
Art Auction to benefit local upstate flood relief efforts
(Albany, NY) — The Albany Comic Con will host an auction of comic related artwork and merchandise to help support ongoing relief efforts to local communities that suffered significant losses during the recent hurricanes and flooding. Working with St. Ambrose church in Latham, N.Y., the convention’s promoter, artists and vendors will contribute goods and original comic artwork that will be sold in a silent auction all day at the convention on Sunday, October 30th, 2011.
“We have about 10 or 12 original pieces of art, and expect many of our vendors to contribute additional goods to add to the auction,” said promoter John Belskis. Artwork available will include an original Dick Tracy colored sketch by the strip’s artist, Joe Staton. Other artwork includes a Doctor Who piece by local favorite Matthew Dow Smith, a Batman drawing by John Hebert, Superman byPaul Abrams, and a Universal Monsters sketch by Fred Hembeck, as well as others. The Albany Comic Con takesplace on Sunday, Oct. 30th 2011, from 10am to 4pm at the Holiday Innon Wolf Rd. in Colonie, NY.
Tickets are available for $5.00 each at the door and on the web site. A limited edition print of many of the pieces in the auction is available with a purchase of the VIP ticket for $50. These tickets can only be purchased through the website.
