Hello and welcome to another edition of Marvel Snapshot! In this week’s character spotlight, we’ll be taking a look at none other than the Super-Skrull! This spotlight ties right in to my other column (Ye Olde School Café) right now with a Fantastic Four story too, so make sure to check that out. The Super-Skrull was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby way back in Fantastic Four #18 (1963).
Back in the day, the Super-Skrull, or Kl’rt as he’s known on his home world, was amped up by the Skrulls to give him an advantage over Earth’s heroes. He was sent to Earth and gave the Fantastic Four a beating. Reed then discovered that the Skrulls were sending a powerful ray that was further augmenting his powers. Once he figured this out, he had Sue deflect the ray, and then he defeated the Skrull. The next time he met them, it involved Sue Storm’s father, Franklin. In the end, the Skrulls double-crossed the Fantastic Four and placed a bomb on him, then in the transportation between worlds, it exploded and killed him. These failures then forced the Skrull leader to exile the Super-Skrull.
Next, Kl’rt had a run-in with Captain Marvel. This would be the first of many, but just after the first confrontation, he immediately had another one while he was aligned with Thanos. They were defeated by Mar-Vell, and the Super-Skrull ended up stranded on Earth. While heading there, he was trapped in the Van Allen radiation belt and his molecules were separated. He eventually got back together, and was found by a group of Canadian scientists, one of which was Sasquatch (Walter Langkowski). While the Super-Skrull was away from his home planet, Galactus made a visit and decimated it. Eventually, the Annihilation Wave destroyed the new Skrull planet, and Super-Skrull returned home to try and help. He enlisted the help of Praxagora to stop Annihilus, but was unsuccessful. During Secret Invasion, the Super-Skrull actually found himself on the side of Earth. He helped Nova to stop part of the invasion. While on Earth, he then turned his attention to his daughter. He tried to kill her, but was opposed by She-Hulk.
As usual, check out my recommended reading list, along with some of the Super-Skrull’s best cover shots! See you next week!

I know I’m a few months too late, however just finding this blog, I gotta say I am loving it. Having always been a Super Skrull fan I was happy to see him in annihilation, however he hasn’t had much to do since then. Also a side note, for recommended reading you forgot the short arc that got me to be a fan, Alpha Flight 9-10, where he fights Sasquatch, still one of my top comics.
