Dinah Laurel Lance, better known as Black Canary, is a crime-fighting heroine who follows in her mother’s footsteps. Inheriting both her mother’s title and high-powered sonic scream, Black Canary is also a skilled martial artist, preferring to use her fists first. Her courageous, take-no-bull attitude paired with her trademark sexy fishnets have earned her the nickname “The Blonde Bombshell.” Whatever you call her, you don’t want to be on the receiving end of Black Canary’s wrath…or her sonic scream!
Packaging: 4-color box with a black background featuring a red outline of fellow Justice Leaguers and a red band along the top border of the box. The yellow Justice League Unlimited logo is up top, and a picture of the maquette is front and center.
Assembly: A peg extending from her left heel and another peg extending from the middle of her right foot slide into holes on the base. Not too difficult.
The Statue: The maquette is based off of Black Canary’s look in the animated TV series Justice League Unlimited, which means she’s clad in her old school look, closer to what her mother wore in the comics. Black boots lead into grey leggings – presumably, fishnets were either not appropriate for the show, or just too hard to draw every time, or both. Of course she’s got her black leotard covered with a blue coat. The whole look is topped off with a black choker around her neck.
Black Canary’s blonde hair is parted to the side and falls loosely in thick waves. Her blue eyes are outlined with dramatic eyeliner, as was the style in the series, and she displays full red lips. Her stance is wide, with her left leg slightly in front and angled a little bit to the outside. Her left hand is perched on her hip, while the right hangs down by her side. Overall, a mostly neutral maquette atop of a black base that has a placard at the front proclaiming “Black Canary – Justice League Unlimited.” As if I didn’t know, pssh.
While the maquette is very basic, with little outfit detail and not sculpted in a dynamic pose, I am very satisfied with it. It’s nice to see a Black Canary statue without her forever screaming her head off with a hand held to her mouth to “amplify” the scream (Really, I don’t think having the hand there really helps, but that’s just me). I like the sculpt; it’s very simple and clean – a crease or two in the jacket, some creases in the boots and eyelashes; the little things that add aesthetic quality. The paint job is okay, but there is some paint bleeding on the edges.
Rating: 4.5 out of 5; an excellent maquette, but the paint bleeding knocks it down a bit.

The man once known as Harvey Dent appears here in his classic comic-book style, dressed in his trademark dual-fabric suit, shirt and tie, which are finely tailored over his cold-cast porcelain body. Half of his face appears eerily charred, and both of his resin eyes are hauntingly realistic.
Mounted on a museum-style, pedestal display base, this mixed-media piece measures approximately 13” high x 11” wide x 6” deep, includes a 4-color Certificate of Authenticity and is packaged in a 4-color box.

Considering how simplistic they look in comparison to other busts and statues, this line always seemed overpriced to me…
Looks good though!
And good call on the hand to the mouth thing with the scream; the bust I have of her has her in that position!
This definitely reminds me of a Bruce Timm creation. JLU, BTAS
I thought the exact same thing.
