Contest of Champions (CoC) Episode #15: Exodus vs. Prince of Orphans

Welcome to Contest of Champions (CoC) Podcast, Episode #15! CoC is an interactive player vs. player game where your favorite Marvel characters go head to head to answer the eternal question of “who can beat whom in a fight?”
Join Jeff Jackson and Ian Johnson every week as they welcome two team managers who have a stable of five characters each ready to blast, zap, snikt, thwip, and smash their way to be the last one standing! It’s a little bit fan fiction, a little bit debate, a little bit role playing, and a whole bunch of fun! It’s an interactive adventure for the managers, and for the ComicAttack.net community.
This week, we’ve got a full house on the show, with our competitors Andy Liegl and Eli Anthony, a guest host, Tom McNeely, and our CoC Science Team, Rick Loverd and David Saltzberg!

Episode #15

(You can click the link to listen to the podcast or right click “save link as” to download it.)

In our first segment, The Science of CoC, Rick and David answer a few questions:
Would beings like Cyclops (optic-blasts), Superman (heat vision), and Black Lighting (electrical discharge) have to consume extra calories in their diets to make up for the vast amounts of energy they expend with their powers? From listener Moses. Thanks Moses!
Why would writers connect Sue Richard’s ability to turn invisible with her ability to create impenetrable force fields? If she turns invisible, wouldn’t that mean that she would be blind?
Next, on this episode we shared our weekly Fights of the Week!
Eli mentioned Bird of Prey #3 by Duane Swierczynski & Jesus Saiz where Poison Ivy auditions for the team by taking on Katana and Starling.
Tom dug into the back issue bin again and chose 2009’s Mystic Comics (70th Anniversary Special) #1 by David Lapham where the Golden Age Vision takes on some gangsters and some monsters from his home realm.
Andy went a little meta and mentioned his fight of the week was him vs. Marvel and all the cancellations that have happened recently, like Daken: Dark Wolverine.
Jeff actually liked the Zero vs. Magneto fight in Generation Hope #13 by James Asmus and Ibraim Roberson.
Ian really liked Wolverine: The Best There Is #11 by Charlie Huston and Juan Jose Ryp where Wolverine finally takes on the evil Windsor, who has a pretty big tie to another Marvel villain!
And finally, here’s the big fight! This week we have quite a throw down as Andy’s mutant mentat takes on Eli’s mystical mist man.
