Welcome to Contest of Champions (CoC) Podcast, Episode #11! CoC is an interactive player vs. player game where your favorite Marvel characters go head to head to answer the eternal question of “who can beat whom in a fight?”Join Jeff Jackson and Ian Johnson every week as they welcome two team managers who have a stable of five characters each ready to blast, zap, snikt, thwip, and smash their way to be the last one standing! Tom reaches into the back issue bin for Dwanye McDuffie’s Fantastic Four #549, where Invisible Woman puts the “pressure” on the Wizard.
Infinite Speech picked something completely different and interesting with Jim Henson’s The Storyteller #1, with an interesting “fight” with a kid and his witch baby sister.
Jeff enjoyed the return of an old Marvel villain in X-Factor #226 by Peter David and Leonard Kirk, where X-Factor fights the Hangman!
Ian really liked Wolverine #17 by Jason Aaron and Ron Garney, where Logan takes out a thug with a claw to the eye-in-a-peephole.

Of course! What else would I use?
Initially, I thought the double team would prove too powerful for Exodus, but now I’m thinking that his psychic attacks would deal both of the two opponents a fatal blow!
Exodus has PLENTY of experience in fighting off double teams and even groups of 5 to 6. So that means he’s more than capable of strategizing, countering, and attacking effectively. Wonder Man isn’t a factor in this fight and will be used as a puppet against Quasar quite easily by the use of Exodus’s telepathic powers. Exodus will probe his mind and see that Wonder Man has it out for anyone that is affiliated with the Avengers and use that to make him his puppet and seek out Quasar as the enemy. At this point Wonder Man would probably take out Quasar even if he can absorb the energy. Ms Marvel can absorb energy also but Simon put her down in the recent New Avengers Annual.
So now with the partner stolen the double team is in effect and Exodus now has an even greater advantage and will easily send Quasar to the loser’s circle along with his partner.
Let’s also not forget that Simon has a history of being mentally swayed and used as a puppet so his mental defenses are pretty much nonexistant when it comes to telepaths.
Second week in a row where there hasn’t been a lot of chatter on the fight. I was hoping for some more rational from Tom. I’m leaning toward Exodus now. Can anyone change my mind?
Only ONE vote…and it’s for Exodus??? C’mon folks! We need some discussion here!
With the power of telepathy, Exodus scans the frozen terrain, looking for life forms. He first locks onto something primal. Something… pissed. It’s Wonder Man, and although he’s never heard of him, he broadcasts everything- even a novice telepath could break through his most guarded thoughts.
…he’s with someone. Someone cosmic. Someone powerful and with the mind to wield that power. Not taking any chances, Exodus takes a moment to properly lock onto both men’s minds. He’s onto them now, and they won’t be able to sense him coming.
Using his powers of telekinesis, Exodus creates a swirling blizzard. Small at first, then expanding and growing into the size of a football field, then larger. Completely surrounded by swirling ice, Exodus uses his telepathic locks on the minds of his targets like a homing beacon caught in a tractor beam. He moves toward his foes.
Time passes and this continues. His targets are getting anxious.
Exodus then sees a glow in the distance. A bright yellow light, like the scream of a child at a funeral. Impossible to miss. Exodus moves closer, and takes the mind of the weaker target, turning him on his ally. Surprised, the glowing man wrestles with his friend, but is taking heavy blows of raw energy. He lets off a blast of solar power, and his friend drops.
Still alive, but unconscious.
Exodus stays completely veiled from his remaining target, adding to the intensity of the storm around him, if for no other reason than to stay cloaked both mentally and visually from this glowing man.
He then fully enters his mind. Quasar. He has seen some horrible things. Exodus spares him the trouble of his thoughts, and his numerous doubts, and turns his mind off. He drops heavily, the ringing of his helmet on the hard ice echoing through the storm in agony.
The blizzard subsides, and its creator turns, then hovers away.
“Magneto.”

So that could happen, OR if there were an all out brawl, Exodus would take some hits, but his energy absorption along with his healing factor would keep him in the fight. After he dropped his first opponent, he may have taken some serious damage, so he’ll turn into a psionic vampire to survive. He did this in X-Man #14, stealing the energy from his opponents to restore himself, staying in the fight.
As for taking on multiple opponents at once, not only is he always fighting X-Men, but he took on them AND the Avengers in Avengers #369!
I also like Exodus in this fight. The man is scary powerful.
I don’t know that Wonder Man will prove difficult to take down, or be controlled, influenced or pushed to attack Quasar. And Quasar… he might very well be taken out with telepathy alone.
