Aspen Reviews: Executive Assistant: Iris Vol 2 #0

Executive Assistant: Iris Vol 2 #0
Publisher: Aspen
Writer: David Wohl
Artist: Eduardo Francisco

“Welcome to the Machine”: After an assassination attempt that took the lives of two of her security detail and left her wounded, Fortune 500 company President Diane Coverdale seeks out the best of the best. This leads her to hiring an Executive Assistant by the name of Acteia after seeing her perform in a contest. The rest of the issue has several sketches and insights into the new crossover “The Hit List Agenda.” Since the issue spotlights Acteia I can only guess that she is going to factor into the story in a big way. Even though we only get a brief introduction to her, she’s so unlike the other Executive Assistants that we met in the first volume of Executive Assistant: Iris. Though most of the story is told by Iris’s narration, she only makes brief appearances. This is in no way a bad thing since we’ve already been introduced to her story, so it was good to see the doors open for another ass kicking assassin!

It is a zero issue folks, so expect just a brief introduction into the story just to get you ready for Aspen’s event. The artwork from Francisco seems to be a bit different from what I was used to in the previous series, so it took me some getting used to. Again, not a bad thing since we still get some good looking pages to go along with Wohl’s story. Next month the event kicks off and I’d suggest getting in on the ground floor. The first volume was one of the best series to come out last year, and with the same team on this one you will not be disappointed!
