Action Comics #900 (DC)
Andy: Osama Bin Laden killed days after Superman renounces his U.S. citizenship. Coincidence? I think not!
Aron: To the major media outlets, STFU! So far, it’s out of continuity. Thanks for spoiling a really good story. NickZ: Great issue, Supes renounces his American citizenship, defeats an all powerful Lex Luthor and arrives just in time to face an army of Doomsdays!
Age of X Universe #2 (Marvel)
Arnab: Suffice to say, even in an alternate universe where humans are the enemy, they can still surprise you.
Jeff: Despite the fact that this was a waste of a mini considering that the Age of X wasn’t real, this was a pretty decent Avengers story.
NickZ: An awesome Age of X tie in! The AoX Avengers are a very interesting group and the Dr. Strange story was also very cool.
Amazing Spider-Man #659 (Marvel)
Aron: Great story. Great art. Great backup feature. Great issue. This is probably the best Marvel title in the universe.
Jeff: If I wanted to read FF, I would buy FF. But I love the Sinister Six, so I was glad to see them.
American Vampire #14 (Vertigo)
Arnab: Oh man! Thing’s are looking shitty for Henry and his pals, but luckily the awesome Pearl is on her way.
Aron: Another breed of vampire is introduced. Kinda looks like a Licker from Resident Evil. Also, this issue is awesome as always. Duh.
Jeff: So Preston doesn’t know what Skinner Sweet looks like? That too bad considering they’re stuck on a Japanese vampire island together.
Batman Incorporated #5 (DC)
Arnab: A highly interesting and exciting story is unfolding before us.
NickZ: I found myself a bit lost at times in this story.
Brightest Day #24 (DC)
Andy: Swamp Thing actually seems pretty cool. I’ll read his book…but 24 issues was way too long to come to this conclusion.
Arnab: I’m surprisingly disappointed. So much happened to lead up to this point and I don’t know that it was worth it.
Aron: I’m so excited about where DC is going. Suck it, Marvel.
NickZ: This ended a little to Captain Planet-like for me. I am interested to see where these characters will go from here.
Deadpool #36 (Marvel)
NickZ: Deadpool wants better friends? Really?
Detective Comics #876 (DC)
Arnab: Holy Orca Batman! Snyder is writing an amazing story here, weaving in Gotham’s history into its present.
Aron: Interesting…
NickZ: What a whale of a tale! (see what I did there?)
Echoes #5 (Top Cow/Minotaur Press)
Andy: Fuck you Josh Fialkov, and fuck the police. That’s messed up and all too real. My day is ruined. This is one of the best psycho crime books out there.
FF #2 (Marvel)
Andy: Valeria you little bitch.
Arnab: While this will likely not play out the way I want it to, I’m thoroughly excited for Valeria to take on old man Richards.
The Flash #11 (DC)
Andy: Erm…I’ll read Flashpoint, but if it’s anything like this, my expectations are low…and didn’t they JUST beat that guy?
Arnab: I’m slightly confused. I’m mildly irked that Manapul didn’t get to do the art. But I’m quite interested in Flashpoint.
Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters #2 (IDW)
Andy: Highly enjoyable. Nice job by Powell to not focus on human characters we all could care less about. And did that pterodactyl thingie eat that kid? Awesome!
Aron: Unbelievably stupid. But maybe it is supposed to be? I know nothing of Godzilla, other than he fux chit up!
Green Arrow #11 (DC)
Andy: Green Arrow is such a badass. Can’t wait to see what JT Krul does with him outside of the Brightest Day banner.
Arnab: Ollie saved the forest and as we all: Save the forest, save the world!
Green Lantern Emerald Warriors #9 (DC)
Arnab: When it’s four against thousands, splitting up is never the right option.
Haunt #15 (Image)
Andy: Love Capullo’s art in this series. If you aren’t reading it, pick up the first TPB and give it a go. It’s cheap and worth it.
Incredible Hulks #627 (Marvel)
Andy: His name is Banner. Bruce Banner. Kind of jarring going from the Savage Land to a Bond-esque story, but I can run with it.
Justice League Generation Lost #24 (DC)
NickZ: Loved this series from beginning to end and I cant wait for the return of JLI!
Marineman #5 (Image)
Andy: Nazis. It’s always Nazis. If you want a series with charm, check this one out…even if there are Nazi seamen.
The Mighty Thor #1 (Marvel)
Andy: Not a fan of the Asgardian scuba suits, but Coipel and Fraction seem to be taking Thor to a new level. I’m on board.
Morning Glories #9 (Image)
Jeff: It’s twists like this that make Morning Glories a must-read book. If you miss watching LOST, read this issue.
Namor The First Mutant #9 (Marvel)
NickZ: Namor and his underwater adventures are just lame.
New Mutants #24 (Marvel)
Andy: Cool…but now what?
Arnab: That was a great conclusion to a great story.
Jeff: I love that the transition from Age of X is going to be a little uncomfortable for our merry mutants.
NickZ: Age of X was such a cool story and now we are left with many questions.
Osborn #5 (Marvel)
Andy: It was ok…I like Norah Winters, but I did not like this personification of Osborn. He was too comical and came off too much like the Joker.
Planet of the Apes (Boom!)
Andy: Never saw the movies (I know!), but I thought this issue was very well done. Especially the art, which was detailed, clean and expressive. Reminded me of Juan Jose Ryp.
Ruse #2 (CrossGen)
Andy: Give this one a shot if you’re into Victorian Era detective stories. A bit wordy at times, but the story is solid.
Scalped #48 (Vertigo)
Andy: If you want a book with depth and, dare I say, soul- read this one. Aaron has me guessing on Dash, and it’s brilliant.
Secret Avengers #12 (Marvel)
Jeff: Ugh. It was issues like this that made me drop this book in the first place. Thank goodness there’s a .1 issue this week too.
Secret Avengers #12.1 (Marvel)
Jeff: Now this is more like it! Nick Spencer and Scot Eaton are a perfect team on this book.
Star Wars: Darth Vader and the Lost Command #4 (Dark Horse)
Andy: Not as badass as I was expecting. There’s nothing cool about Darth Vader being bound to a pole talking about love.
The Strange Case of Mr. Hyde #1 (Dark Horse)
Andy: If you’re into Sherlock Holmes and classic horror, this series is a must read! Makes me want to get a hooker and brew stuff in a lab.
Tomb of Dracula Presents: Throne of Blood #1 (Marvel)
Andy: See my X-Men chirp below. Gischler should have complete control over Marvel’s vampires. He’s doing it right.
The Traveler #6 (Boom!)
Andy: This one’s losing steam…go check out Starborn instead.
Uncanny X-Men #536 (Marvel)
Andy: If you read Joss Whedon’s Astonishing run, you may dig this quasi-sequel. Although, I don’t like seeing Magneto go down so easily.
Arnab: Hmm. This issue was interesting. Magneto made a terrible decision, highly unlike him.
Jeff: Krunn is a bad mofo! It’s good to see an original X-Men story that plays well off previous stories.
NickZ: Since joining with the X-Men, Magneto has just become an old fool.
Velocity #3 (Top Cow)
Andy: Great twist for an ending to this worthy Pilot Season winner!
Venom #2 (Marvel)
Jeff: Ok, I need to dig up Kraven on Wikipedia. I thought that dude was dead.
The Walking Dead #84 (Image)
Andy: Wait…nobody died!? WTF.
Arnab: Well hot damn. That was one badass battle.
Jeff: I hate to say it, but TWD is much better when people are dying and not kicking so much ass.
NickZ: Rick and company KICKED MAJOR ASS!! Not the way I saw this going.
Arnab: This crossover event has been excellent from the get go. X-23 fans, this is a must read.
NickZ: Daken and X have a very interesting relationship, the back and forth between them is really great!
X-Men #10 (Marvel)
Andy: This self contained story was ok, but I’m really looking forward to Gischler’s vampires returning in the next arc! Um, but what happened to Dark Beast?
Jeff: Chris Bachalo, your art is so pretty, I want to cry.
NickZ: This story wrapped up pretty quickly. I loved the Spidey/White Queen team-up.
Xombi #2 (DC)
Andy: Wow, I never heard of this character until this series, and I’m hooked. Irving is killing the art and Rozum keeps things interesting. 10/10.

D’oh! 🙁
With the way that New Mutants #24 ended I’m really pissed at the Age of X Universe books because if it was something to directly affect the X-Men how could Steve and the rest have been caught up in it? Ah well, I loved Emma’s comment to Scott about Frenzy (Cargill) lol
Jeff, you know as well as I do that it’s RARE for a character to stay dead in comics.
Andy you are sooooooooo right about Xombi! That book is leaps and bounds above a lot of what came out last week!
Well, here’s how I looked at Age of X: Universe. If you look at it like an alternate Avengers tale, then it’s really cool. But if you consider the truth behind Age of X, it’s pointless. So I’m choosing to look at it as the former.
Jeff – The rationale behind that spin off just eludes me now considering that Marvel editorial KNEW how AoX was going to “end”. Ugh
Andy- How very timely your Action Comics tweet was.
Aron- Someone stold my catch phrase that I stold from someone else! Karma? lol
Speech, you’re definitely right about that. It really made no sense.
I stold nothing, Nick. I’m just awesome enough to be qualified to use it.
