2010’s Kick-Ass movie is based on the comic book of the same name by Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr. The plot concerns a teenage boy, Dave Lizewski, who decides to become a real-life superhero after being inspired by the heroes of comic books. Under the name of Kick-Ass, he soon encounters a mysterious vigilante called Big Daddy and his daughter Hit-Girl, who are working to bring down the local drug baron Frank D’Amico. Dave also meets another vigilante, Red Mist, who’s been inspired by Kick-Ass.

Paint Job: Both the Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl figures are painted with vivid colors with close attention to detail. There does not appear to be much bleeding and the colors are uniform. Darker shades are visible in some of the grooves that successfully add depth to the figures. The contrasting colors on each figure also make for quite an eye-pleasing showcase.
Sculpt: As apparent in the pictures, each figure has detailed muscles and expressions. The faces look fairly accurate and definitely do a good job in presenting what they are. The folds in the fabric are also fantastic – you can really see where the parts of the body have ‘tension.’ Hit-Girl’s face looks a little old for her age, but her short stature helps out with that. What’s nice about these figures’ sculpt is the fact that they both sport grooves in their gloved hands which allow for sturdy holding of their weapons.
Durability: Both figures are made of strong, hard plastic. Besides the removable head on Kick-Ass which will undoubtedly get lost or eaten by your cat, these little babies are going to last you until the next zombie apocalypse.
Poseability: The two figures can be posed in a limited number of positions, allowing for only ten points of articulation. The thigh cuts in both figures do not allow for visually appealing movement. They can twist, but they are formed so it doesn’t look presentable any other way than its starting position. However, the ball joints are very well-done which overcome the lack of many articulation points. Why move your legs when you can move your…wrists? Right? Additionally, the removable heads on Kick-Ass are very well-crafted. They detach with a satisfying pop and reattach just as easily.
Accessories: Kick-Ass comes armed with two head options: one with a mask and one without, complete with battle scars. He also gets two nifty little billy clubs. Hit-Girl is packaged with a pair of butterfly knives and her signature double Gitano bladed Mindy Stick. Neat.
What’s awesome: This two-pack is a great deal for the quality you get. As a pair, these two figures compliment each other perfectly. The packaging itself is an art piece. The movie’s colorful logo is displayed proudly over much of the box along with other artistic touches. The unique and eye-popping visual style of the movie was successfully captured in this rendering.
What Sucks: The awkward articulation in the legs doesn’t allow for as much poseability as you would like. However, the only thing that really sucks about this pair is that it lacks a Red Mist and Big Daddy to complete it.
Overall: Overall, I give this set a 4.5/5. Besides the small articulation issue, the figures are sturdy, pretty accurate, and look great together. Who needs articulation when they can just stand there and exude AWESOME?

They look great! Too bad they don’t move much, though honestly…at least the joints aren’t hideous.
Lots of great detail…love the way the clothes fold and such.
Do they really stand the same height? Or is Hit-Girl technically shorter?
These look so good. But what if you don’t have a cat to eat the alternate head on Kick-Ass? What do you do then?
