Arcana Comics Previews: Dionysus Wept

Writer Eric C. Hayes, a frequent ComicAttack.net visitor, has announced that Arcana Studios will be producing his next comic book venture!

It’s called Dionysus Wept, and it will be released in two graphic novel volumes, the first of which will debut later this year. The series “seeks to expand the reader’s internal universe with Nazi-era eugenics experimentation, brutal murder and psychedelic mind travel,” to quote the press release. Dionysus Wept is being described as a cross between Boys From Brazil and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas that will “have comic fans questioning reality itself.”

The artist in the series is Marc Borstel who was nominated for a 2010 Russ Manning Award (which is presented to rookie comic artists who, upon their first major project, show a great understanding of the medium) for his work on The Misadventures of Clark and Jefferson by APE Entertainment. Marc and Eric have previously worked together on the book The Outer Space Men, which was a story that focuses on providing “scientific” answers to the mysteries of God, religion, and the Devil himself!

Dionysus also features stunning, stylized, cover art from veteran comic artist John Van Fleet.

Says Hayes about Dionysus Wept, “Due to the graphic nature of my book, Arcana Studios is a natural fit.  I’m truly honored to have my work be a part of Arcana’s impressive library of books.”

Personally, I’m a sucker for these types of stories so this sounds like a bad ass OGN to me. Also, the plot summary of The Outer Space Men has me intrigued and eager to give it a read.

I like that cover to the Outer Space Men! It looks modern but with a nod to the older sci fi films of the 50s and 60s.

    Sounds very intriguing.
