THE TERMINATOR 2029 #3

So the last issue ended with a twist, where we found out the old man is Kyle Reese from the future, and we all went “WHAT?!?!?!” Even if I felt this mini-series had plenty of weak points, the ending of the second issue was so cool, that I’d still come out liking it for this ‘quick-one’ the team of Whedon and MacDonald pulled on us. So the question is, did they live up to the bar they set at the end of the second issue?
They did. If I knew how to insert a smiley face symbol into my article I would, and as I’ve mentioned before, that’s not something I’d do easily considering I’ve fallen out of love with the Terminator franchise over the years. This issue fills out the rest of story and brings us full circle with the original Terminator movie. Whedon even manages to pull off a handful of surprises that we don’t see coming, and yes, the duo sets the story up to have another mini-series called The Terminator 1984, coming out in September 2010. The mini still wraps up nicely here, and works as an end to the mini-series, leaving us feeling fulfilled after three issues.
The writing by Whedon has really improved in this issue and his set-ups pay off. The art by MacDonald is gold and works wonderfully for this mini’s wrap up issue, as it has in the previous issues. Keep the goodness coming at this rate and you guys may make me into a Terminator fan once again!
