CYCLOPS is a born leader who recognizes the abilities that WOLVERINE brings to the X-MEN. He uses those abilities to great effect, sending WOLVERINE on the most dangerous missions.
Okay, well…that’s the “flavor text” on the back of the packaging. That’s kind of lame if you ask me. Let’s try something like…THIS:
In honor of him being named #1 in the X-Men Power Rankings, ComicAttack.net’s Gotta Have It! Figure Edition proudly presents: X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Comic Series) – CYCLOPS!!!!!!
Product Line: X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Comic Series)
Series: Wave 3
Company: Hasbro
Release Date: May 2009
Packaging: Blister Card Packaging
Where to Buy: Pretty much any retail store with a toy department.
Price: US $4.50 (Wal-Mart, Clearance)
Points of Articulation: 20
Height: 3 3/4 inches
Paint Job: The paint job on this Cyclops is…astonishing. Meaning, he is perfectly painted in a flat, navy blue with yellow trim, red X-Men logo on the buckle, and silver visor. His Astonishing X-Men uniform! Really, there aren’t too many smudges to complain about or any inappropriate color bleeds. The skin tone on the exposed face is painted pretty well, too. This is a good one.
Sculpt: Like his optic blast, the sculpt is deadly accurate. Mr. Summers isn’t a beefcake, but he’s not a tawny, scrawny lion either. There is muscle tone, but it’s not over the top. An excellent job! His visor lens is hollowed out so you can insert a molded plastic “blast,” but more on that later.
Durability: Cyke doesn’t have any hollow pieces as far as I can tell. His joints move smoothly without any fear of breaking. There is a peg hole in each of his boot heels.
Poseability: As you can see, this Cyclops can stand up straight and hold balance, all while looking like the calm bad ass that he is. The shoulder joints lock into each position that you put them in, so that is a plus. His right leg is not really sculpted straight, so the standing poses are pretty limited. He can crouch pretty good. If I had a ceiling on my fancy little action figure studio and some fishing line, I could get Cyke to bust out in a pretty mean “Step in Time” routine!
Accessories: How ’bout just accessory. Cyclops comes with a red, molded plastic “blast” that you can stick into the opening on his visor. It honestly looks like somebody played with their Fruit Roll-Up or made their very own Jolly Rancher mold. For my purposes, though, it actually looks better than it sounds, and is definitely better than what it does on the back of the package. I asked Cyclops to show off for me and give us a little light show. He obliged:
What’s Awesome: That light show was awesome! Whoa! Did you see that!? Alright, truthfully…I was all set to go to town ripping and bagging on this action figure. I am not at all a fan of the pre-Messiah CompleX Cyclops. He was a d-bag in need of dying. Growing into a bad ass character, the more modern costume that was chosen for this action figure, and all of the excitement around the X-Men’s current situation, have me really digging on this figure. This is one awesome action figure. I don’t care how you feel about the current onslaught of “little” Marvel action figures. This one is the bee’s knees.
What Sucks: The only thing I have to complain about with this release is the packaging. The “flavor text” was more corny than…well…I’m not going to get gross, and the action figure photo on the back was just plain STUPID! Seriously! Hasbro should hire me to do photograph for the back of their packages! Have you seen this one? So you don’t have to scroll back up to the top and click on it, click HERE instead. He’s actually holding his optic blast! What, did he wake up that day and decide he wanted to lose some fingers? Good grief!
Overall: 5 out of 5. Cyclops is only the third of my entries to gain a perfect score. He gets five thumbs up! He was getting a four, but then I got to thinking about how much fun I had with him while making this review. Fun has to be a factor with all action figures. This one definitely has fun factor. X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Comic Series) – Cyclops. Gotta have it? Oh yeah! Whether you intend on playing with him or displaying him proudly as a trophy of your geekness in your Comic Cave, this Cyclops action figure is a must!

This actually looks like a pretty decent figure and yeah I noticed the holding of the optic blast and I just fell out laughing lol Love that last pic of Cyke though!
Looks pretty cool, but that optic blast looks more like Gene Simmons tongue. lol
Thats a good looking figure. That optic blast doesn’t look too bad for being mass produced.

Yeah, I was surprised once I got it out of the package. It’s good stuff!
That light show WAS awesome. Seriously though, at least in the photos, it seems like Hasbro pulled off the optic blast effect pretty well!
I want this toy.
