Sometimes all you need is one good idea to change the world and base your whole business off of. Capsule Corp is just such an enterprise. Their capsule technology is a quiet aspect of the world of the Dragon Ball series, they effect the lives of nearly every main character. So what is Capsule Corp and what are capsules? Let’s find out.
Doctor Brief would go through years of schooling in science and engineering degrees to be able to invent the capsule technology. The device is simple, a pill about the size of a thumb with a button on the top can contain just about any non-animal thing within them. You can make housing, vehicles, and more ale to fit into tiny capsules. This allows one to always have a home and car on their person, ready to be used by their owner when necessary.
Gone were the days of parking lots or heavy shipping containers. Brief and Capsule Corp would become a powerhouse of business and technology all over the planet. All manner of life now had access to a variety of essentials able to fit in their pocket or a small case they could keep in a bag. The military now could have soldiers carrying massive quantities of weapons that made the older methods seem quaint.
Even though Capsule Corporation’s main source of invention came from capsule tech, they would eventually discover alien life forms through Doctor Briefs’ daughter, Bulma, and her adventures. This technology allowed the company to bring highly advanced devices to their customers. Constantly finding themselves leading the way with innovations, this would also mean that they had powerful enemies. Rival corporations and armies seeking to get the next big invention to overcome Capsule Corporation’s lead in the field.
A common rival was the Red Ribbon Army, often pushing their own capsules that were based off the Capsule Corporation design. They would also seek to make robotic and cybernetic enhancement, and just as they had taken from Capsule Corp, Capsule Corp would reverse engineer their advancements as well. Capsule Corp would use these advancements to aide medical research instead of weapons as the Red Ribbon Army had focused.
Not only would Capsule Corp be able to develop capsule tech, reverse engineer robotics, cybernetics, and alien technologies, in a dark timeline, they are able to develop time travel. Bulma Briefs proves to be just as capable an engineer as her father and build a device to help save the Earth from deadly robotics of the Red Ribbon Army.
There you have it! In the grand scheme of Dragon Ball and its continued stories in Z and Super, Capsule Corp is an ever-present background piece that occasionally come into prominence when they need a scientific or engineering assist in dealing with a problem. See you next time!
