In a possible future, the age of heroes is long over, or so it would seem. From out of the villainous megacorps raises a hero to inspire the people. A new Spider-Man for a new age, ready to fight crime and save lives. Who is the Spider-Man of 2099? How did he get his powers? Let’s find out!
Miguel O’Hara was a hot shot geneticist at the megacorp, Alchemax, living in Nueva York in the year 2099. Though he was happy to be so wealthy and needed, he knew that the megacorps of the world were more like vampires, draining the general public to sustain themselves. This became very apparent when his latest project, to combine human DNA with that of animals to make super-soldiers, lead to the horrific death of a test subject. Miguel would go to his boss, Tyler Stone, and resign but Stone would not allow for his best engineer to just leave. He would inject Miguel with a super drug that bonded with the user’s DNA to make them forever addicted and Alchemax was the only legal distributor of the drug for Miguel’s new fix, forcing him to continue working if he didn’t want to experience the deadly withdrawals.
Miguel would go to his lab, using an old copy of his own DNA on file to try and reboot his system so he’d be rid of this new addiction, unbeknownst to Miguel, his supervisor who had been jealous of him, sabotaged his attempt by making him their project’s next test subject. Miguel would have his DNA mixed with that of a spider’s. He would be rid of the super drug but now found his body changed, the powers of a spider, along with claws on his fingers and toes to allow him to climb walls. His supervisor would open fire on him thinking Miguel would kill him for his own attempt at murder, causing an explosion from his shooting. Miguel would attempt to save him but the man died in the resulting chaos and Miguel was now on Alchemax’s most wanted list, as they would begin hiring every bounty hunter and private security firm they had contact with.
To hide his identity, Miguel would make a mask and costume, his run in with a cult of Thor worshipers would have him realize he was basically a modern day Spider-Man and the name stuck. His costume was made from a Dia de los Muertos mask he had worn years prior and a suit made of unstable molecules, a Fantastic Four invention, that would keep him safe from his own talons. He was accompanied by his AI holographic assistant, Lyla, while trying to keep the secret from his fiancé , Dana, his brother, Gabriel, and his mother, Conchata. Miguel would fight against Alchemax and become a hero of the people, fighting to protect them from the dangers of the megacorps while trying to get them off his back.
It would turn out that Miguel was just the start of a new age of heroes, as other people would begin gaining powers or start to fight for the people as well. Even Captain America, Steve Rogers would arrive, unfrozen once more. Even a new Avengers would begin, with Miguel joining their ranks. The problem is, that with new heroes came new villains, some were even quite literally villains of old like Venom having survived as a symbiote. Miguel would take on all these threats, still doing his best to win one over on Alchemax, the biggest blow to both the company and himself, though, was in learning that Tyler Stone, CEO, was his biological father. This meant that when Stone was given a job by the new white house, under the control of the new Doctor Doom, Stone would have to name his heir, Miguel to take charge of the board of directors. Miguel would do his best to make Alchemax a better company in his civilian life while fighting their criminal acts in his costumed life.
Time travel would play a key role in some of Miguel’s adventures, he would get to team up with the original Spider-Man, Peter Parker, because of this. Furthermore, Miguel’s own timeline would be messed with due to events in the past, one such event caused Tyler Stone to jettison Miguel into the past of Peter Parker’s era where now, Alchemax existed far before it should have. Miguel would have to hide that he was from the future and even worse, keep his grandfather alive if he wanted to make sure he was born, but also stop his grandfather from making such a villainous company and cruel father for Miguel. Not only would Miguel have to deal with living in the past but then he would get tied up in dealing with helping all of the other realities’ Spiders when the multiverse required him.
There you have it! Miguel O’Hara is yet another Spider-Man but this time from the same reality as Peter Parker, technically. He is, after all, from a possible future and not the only future. Miguel has had his own cartoon series and been a guest star in other cartoons.
