The teaser for the Bumblebee solo movie is here and from the looks of it things this movie will actually have some heart to go along with the explosions. It kicks off with a voiceover from Bernie Mac as Bobby B. from the first Transformers film where we first see Bumblebee in his original Volkswagon Beetle form from the 80s. The feels start there and continue as we meet Charlie who gets her first car and soon discovers there’s more than meets the eye to this little machine.
The 80s setting and call backs are nailing the nostalgia feel but we’ll have to wait and see what else this film has to offer since this trailer is pretty light on the plot details. However, I will say that with Travis Knight directing this one there’s a chance he’ll have emotions running all over the place like he did with Kubo and the Two Strings.
Synopsis:
On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee the Autobot seeks refuge in a junkyard in a small California beach town. Charlie, on the brink of turning 18 years old and trying to find her place in the world, soon discovers the battle-scarred and broken Bumblebee. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns that this is no ordinary yellow Volkswagen.
