Abram’s story began back in 2015 and fans thought they were ready for what was coming. However, the creative team kept surprising and impressing as the story of this cosmonaut turned god continued. Now after wrapping up Stalinverse in Divinity III a few months ago, Kindt prepares us for what’s next. We’re given a look at some of the fallout from the Stalinverse event focusing on where certain characters have ended up. And though most things have returned to normal the Valiant Universe has some new inhabitants that survived the reality adjustment.

Now, if you haven’t read any of the preceding stories I’d suggest doing so but this issue is still quit accessible to new readers. Even after three volumes of Divinity, Kindt makes it easy to get into the story while it doubles as a first introduction to Abram and a primer for the future. There’s plenty here to also keep current readers from feeling like they’re just getting the same material over again. We not only see what Abram’s role has become since the event but Kindt makes this feel like so much more while we follow Abram as he visits key players in the Valiant Universe.

The art by Renato Guedes is just jaw dropping from panel to panel and propels the narrative. Guedes’ work is allowed to stand out with very little dialogue in most panels which makes those sequences stronger. The color pallets shift from moment to moment and when he visits the main Valiant characters you can really see the difference. However, one of the best visual moments is how he bookends the issue.

Divinity #0 feels bigger than what it’s supposed to considering a lot of zero issues aren’t too heavy on actual content. So thanks to the creative team for not wasting the reader’s time but setting them up for something worth checking out later on. New and current readers of Divinity should definitely pick this one up as it’s just fantastic storytelling from start to finish!
