Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 05/25/16

Afterlife With Archie #9 (Archie)
Infinite Speech: Almost forgot how great this book is! So glad it’s back!

Aliens: Defiance #2 (Dark Horse)
Infinite Speech: Wood and Jones bring a fresh dynamic to the Alien mythos with some great sci-fi horror flavor!

Bloodshot Reborn #13 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: HOLY $#!@ we did not see that coming! Classic twist with stellar art so you can’t miss if you read this!

Captain America: Stcap 1eve Rogers #1 (Marvel)
Arnab:
Pretty much the most interesting thing that’s happened to Cap since he died. And even that was barely interesting.
Infinite Speech: I bet all those Sam Wilson haters are really upset now!

Cyborg #11 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Wolfman gives Vic Stone a reality check in this cyber story.
Martin: 3/5 stars. I feel like this book had so much potential but the past few issues don’t really do much to make Vic interesting.

DC Universe: Rebirth #1 (DC)
Arnab: WAAAAALLLLLLYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Infinite Speech: Not too friendly for new readers but older fans will enjoy the surprises.
Martin: 5/5 stars. I was skeptical going into this, but I loved it cover to cover. Story, character, & art are perfect.

Deadpool #12 (Marvel)
Arnab: Not gonna lie, this 2099 stuff isn’t particularly great.

Divinity II #2 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: This is a sequel on it’s way to surpassing the original so it should be in your hands!

Doctor Strange #8 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: The stakes in this arc are ridiculous and make this series worth reading!

Dreaming Eagles #5 (Aftershock)
Infinite Speech: I can’t stress enough how rich this series is! Kudos to the entire creative team!

East of West #26 (Image)east of west 26
Arnab: There are some issues of this series, when they end, you’re left thinking, shit’s going to go down in a big way.
Martin: 4/5 stars. I love this book, and I am a huge fan of supporting monthly comics, but it’s so hard to follow between issues!

Extraordinary X-Men #10 (Marvel)
Arnab: I have no idea what Apocalypse Wars is about.
Infinite Speech: Does ANYONE care about Glob Herman?? Why is he taking up panel space?

The Flash #52 (DC)
Arnab: After all of that, Barry doesn’t even care that there’s a second speedster roaming around town?
Martin:
3/5 stars. Unlike some other books that had a definitive ending, this one just feels like “filler.” Fun ideas, average execution.

Grayson #20 (DC)
Arnab: Nightwing is back!

Justice League #50 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Darkseid War has been the best thing coming out of DC and this conclusion was amazing!
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. Readers are treated to 2 Johns comics this week, & this 1 comes w/ excellent Fabok art. Perfect ending.

The Legacy of Luther Strode #6 (Image)legacy of luther 6
Arnab: Luther Strode wins. It’s the most fitting of endings for the baddest hero.

Mockingbird #3 (Marvel)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Chelsea Cain really brings this character to life and writes great dialogue & narration for Bobbi Morse.

Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur #7 ( Marvel)
Infinite Speech: This new Inhuman power is going to cause some serious problems but it’s going to be fun!

Nighthawk #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Wow! David Walker is on fire and this is pick of the week material here!

Rachel Rising #42 (Abstract)
Infinite Speech: Terry Moore has delivered 42 issues of near perfect storytelling that blows away most of what’s been on comic shelves the past few years! Thank you!

Shaft: Imitation of Life #4 (Dynamite)
Infinite Speech: Another issue of cool from David Walker!

spidey pool 5 Spider-Man/Deadpool #5 (Marvel)
Arnab: The number of times Peter dies in this is astounding. In other news, will they hurry up and make Spidey-Pool canon already?

Superman #52 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Some good scenes w/ Superman, but I never quite “got” the villain & the ending was so rushed there was no emotion.

Superman: Lois & Clark #8 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Between this & “American Alien”, THIS is the Superman I want to see. Looks like I might get my wish.

Teen Titans #20 (DC)
Arnab: This team would be nowhere without Tim.

Tokyo Ghost #7 (Image)
Infinite Speech: This series took me by surprise and I’m glad I stuck with it.

Totally Awesome Hulk #6 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Pak hits some great emotional beats here and is backed by some even better art.

We Are Robin #12 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Another “shining light” of the “DC You” initiative that I’m going to miss. I hope to see these characters again

Weirdworld #6 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: The Tribe Called Quest nod in this issue is the top comic moment this week!
