Convergence: The Flash #2
Writer: Dan Abnett
Artists: Federico Dallocchio and Veronic Gandini
Cover Artists: Jonboy Meyers, Carmine Infantino, and Frank McLaughlin
Publisher: DC
While most of the other Convergence tie-ins were a display of powers and action, this issue was pretty much decided through a mental battle. Which isn’t to say there was no action or a display of power, there is, however it is merely there to decorate the story and bears no impact on the ending. This tie in ends with one hero sacrificing himself and his city for the safety of the entire multiverse, reiterating the notion that working together is better than fighting each other. 3.5/5
Convergence: New Teen Titans #2
Writer: Marv Wolfman
Artists: Nicola Scott, Marc Deering, and Jeromy Cox
Cover Artists: Nicola Scott, Marc Deering, and Jeromy Cox
Publisher: DC
With only two issues to work with, there is a lot more relationship drama than one would expect. The end result is that for those readers who do not have an emotional tie to this series from way back when, the issue tends to read like a soap opera at times. That aside, however, the rest of this issue is a rather decent read. The Teen Titans battle Doom Patrol and then later join up with Doom Patrol, but then an Earthquake comes and everything changes yet again. The story had its up and downs, but it was nice seeing the heroes of yesterday cease their fighting in favor of working together. The highlight of the issue was the art by Nicola Scott, who did a remarkable job with the story and these characters. 3.5/5
