’68: Bad Sign #1 (Image)
Infinite Speech: Great twist on the Zodiac killer and the art is gorgeously SICK!
American Vampire: Second Cycle #7 (Vertigo)
Arnab: Sometimes I forget how much I love this book and then it comes out.
Infinite Speech: I wanted more vampire monkeys but the Sixth Breed will do!
Archie vs Predator #1 (Archie)
Infinite Speech: This is the most fun I had all week! Archie and the gang don’t stand a chance!
Bloodshot: Reborn #1 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: Another excellent entry into Valiant’s great world of titles!
Captain America & The Mighty Avengers #7 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Al Ewing is writing a pretty spectacular team here that has been great to read issue after issue!
Chrononauts #2 (Image)
Infinite Speech: All the time travel rules are broken here and you won’t be disappointed!
NickZ: The series took a real unexpected turn from where I thought it would go but I’m still fully onboard! How about that Top Gun variant cover?
Convergence #2 (DC)
Arnab: This series needs to get better. Fast.
Infinite Speech: A dash of “meh”, a pinch of “I don’t care”, with a side of I Am Legend thrown in for extra boredom.
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Great art in this, & the potential for a cool
moment with Earth 2 & Pre-Flashpoint Batman, but it falls flat.
NickZ: This was still pretty awful. What a wasted iconic moment of Bruce Wayne Batman meeting Thomas Wayne Batman.
Convergence: Aquaman #1: DC
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Nice job on the art, and an interesting look at a
literal “fish out of water” character.
Infinite Speech: A tie-in that made sense and was pretty fun to read. I actually miss the harpoon hand now.
Convergence: Batman Shadow of the Bat #1 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Beautifully illustrated & colored but like most
Convergence stuff, too much dialogue
Infinite Speech: So tired of reading about these gangsters trying to corner the food market in these domed cities. BORING!
NickZ: Why are there two Batmen in Metropolis?
Convergence: Catwoman #1 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Another strong artistic offering for Convergence,
but the story… just not so great.
NickZ: The best Convergence title this week! Great Catwoman development and I can’t wait to see her face off with Kingdom Come Batman!
Convergence: Green Arrow #1: (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Rags’ art pushes this to a 4. Nice to see “Errol
Flynn” Arrow in action again.
Convergence: Green Lantern-Parallax #1: DC
Martin: 3.5/5. Some good interactions with Kyle & Hal but completely
jacks up the old continuity.
Convergence: Justice League International #1 (DC)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Ted Kord is great in this & I love this era of
the League. But Kingdom Come WW was not that stupid.
NickZ: Interesting to see this team again with no powers trying to keep the peace in Metropolis. But again…why are they in Metropolis?
Convergence: Suicide Squad #1: DC
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. A nice revisit to the Ostrander squad & the “big
personality” Waller, and a cool surprise ending.
Convergence: Superboy #1 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Great art and one of the better depictions of the
Kingdom Come “heroes.”
NickZ: Like the JLI book, it was fun to see this version of Superboy again. I really enjoyed this era in comics even if it was awful.
Convergenc:e Supergirl Matrix #1 (DC)
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. Art raises the score but Giffen’s story’s also a
fantastic fun read. .@DCComics note: More like this.
NickZ: Luthor was never openly this much of a dick to Supergirl. Quark, Volt, and Ambush Bug were hilarious tho, in this.
Convergence: Superman – Man of Steel #1: (DC)
Infinite Speech: There’s so much wrong with this issue I’d have to violate the 140 character rule 5 times to explain it all.
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Nice to see a touch of family that’s not typical
DC “grimdark” along w/ a classic 90’s art style.
Deathlok #7 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Things are finally starting to pick up here so hopefully it gets better!
G.I. Joe: Snake Eyes, Agent of Cobra #4 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: Storm Shadow is back and the new costume is the best!
John Carter: Warlord of Mars #5 (Dynamite)
Infinite Speech: This is a series that would make Edgar Rice Burroughs proud!
Legendary Star-Lord #11 (Marvel)
Arnab: The whole time I was thinking, it has to be Kitty. She’s the only one who could phase everybody out of that gunk.
NickZ: While reading this book, I just realized how much Kitty Pryde has a thing for guys named Peter. Peter Rasputin, Peter Wisdom, and Peter Quill!
Loki Agent of Asgard #13 (Marvel)
NickZ: I’m not exactly sure what happened in this issue, but I know that I liked it!
Lumberjanes (Boom!)
NickZ: Prequels usually suck but this one is awesome. So great seeing how the girls met before issue one and the scene with Jo and her two dads is so important in an all ages book.
Magneto #17 (Marvel)
NickZ: This issue is so dark, even for this series. I love the great character development for Max…err…Erik…err…Magnus.
Oddly Normal #6 (Image)
NickZ: This is one of the best all age comics out there! Otis Frampton puts so much heart into this book!
Infinite Speech: Looking for an all ages title that is just awesome? Then look no further than Oddly Normal!
Sensation Comics #9 (DC)
NickZ: There is a super adorable story of two sisters playing Wonder Woman and a great Lois and Wonder Woman back up story. Girl power rules.
Spawn #251 (Image)
Infinite Speech: Jonboy’s art is the high point of this new direction for the returning Al Simmons.
Spider-Man and the X-Men #5 (Marvel)
NickZ: I don’t know if i dislike this book as much as Wolverine and the X-Men or equally.
Thor #7 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Looks like our suspicions were right about who the new Thor is!!
The Tithe #1 (Top Cow)
NickZ: A great new series from the dynamic duo that is Matt Hawkins and Rahsan Ekedal! Kinda a Robin Hood for the modern age with a twist! I highly recommend it!
Infinite Speech: Hawkins and Ekedal do it again in this great heist series!
Uncanny X-Men #33 (Marvel)
Arnab: Who knew that a book about two characters I neither love nor hate could be so damn good.
Infinite Speech: This is one of those rare good X-Men issues that reminds you how great Kitty and Magik used to be.
NickZ: What a great Kitty Pryde and Illyana story. I think we all share Illyana’s nostalgia for simpler times for the X-Men. (Were things ever simpler for the X-Men?)
Unity #17 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: This one is all about Livewire and I couldn’t be happier!
Wolverines #14 (Marvel)
NickZ: Mystique manipulates Daken and X-23 to go off on some foolhardy mission. I wish she could manipulate this book into being good just as easily.
