Batman and Robin Annual #3
Writer: Peter Tomasi
Artists: Juan Jose Ryp and Sonia Oback
Cover Artists: Ardian Syaf, Kyle Ritter, and Guillermo Ortego
Publisher: DC Comics
With the ongoing series having ended last week, it may be some time till we see Batman and Robin teaming up together. Peter Tomasi does a fantastic job with this story as we follow the Dynamic Duo into space. The story is entertaining, wonderfully written, with a touch of emotional Father-Son bonding. Tomasi has proven time and time again that he knows these characters and can write them fantastically. The art by Juan Ryp and Sonia Oback was fantastic to look at and did a great job of telling Tomasi’s story. 4.5/5
Convergence #0
Writer: Dan Jurgens and Jeff King
Artists: Ethan Van Sciver and Marcelo Maiolo
Cover Artists: Ethan Van Sciver and Marcelo Maiolo
Publisher: DC Comics
It’s the start of DC’s newest event, however if this is any indication of what the event will be like, then DC should be worried. The highlight of the issue is the wonderful art by Ethan Van Sciver and Marcelo Maiolo. The two of them turned in a gorgeous book that was a delight to read. Unfortunately, even with the art as a distraction, the story does not quite live up to the hype. The story is confusing at parts and outright boring at others. Even though there was a great deal of information to cover, this book ended up being oversized and overpriced with very little substance. So far, Convergence is looking like a chaotic story with way too many characters in the mix. 2/5
