A good zero issue teases just enough to get you excited and ready to pick up the first issue in the series it’s representing. Well, Skorn #0 does just that as Rashid gives us a glimpse of New Haven, CT’s newest heroine.
This issue is pretty quick and to the point, while not revealing too much about the title character. What we do get to see is that a mysterious party is very interested in Skorn’s activities, and has gone through some extreme lengths to see her in action. But as she’s suiting up the tone is set that things are not only deadly, but are on the way to getting a lot worse.
I always have to give an extra nod to anyone willing to write and draw their own title while still being able to deliver on all fronts. Keeping the book visually appealing as well as something you don’t mind reading several times is something every fan will appreciate in any comic. So far, Skorn has a nice set up to go along with Rashid’s consistently strong visuals. Which was the first thing that interested me when first seeing Skorn’s character design. Also it’s the debut of a female character that seems capable of delivering all kinds of pain to bad guys while wearing a tactical and practical costume.
These events lead directly into the first issue and it can’t come soon enough!
