Chirpin’ Tuesday Reviews 10/16/13

CHIRPBANNER1

Adventure Time #21 (Boom!)
NickZ: Only in Adventure Time can your enemy be bubble gum and it still be radical!

ax 13A+X #13 (Marvel)
NickZ: Let Captain America refer to Charles Xavier as his “friend” one more time and I’m gonna kick his lying ass myself.

Batman and Robin #24 (DC)
Martin: Should have been called “Erin McKillen #0.” Very little of Batman or Two-Face. Ready for a new Robin.
NickZ: Two Face may finally get revenge on the woman who unmade him.

Batman Superman #4 (DC)
Dr. Bustos: Is this a burn towards how the New 52 is cruel compared to the older continuity we had before it?
Infinite Speech: Okay, I doubted this series at first but Pak is killing it right now!
Martin:  Good conclusion to the first story-arc. Love the interaction between the heroes & their Earth 2 counterparts.
NickZ: Interesting seeing the different dynamics between two sets of Batman and Superman from different times in their lives.

Batwoman #24 (DC)
Dr. Bustos: What a cliffhanger.

Brain Boy #2 (Dark Horse)
Jeff: The art in this book is just lovely, but not sure I’m digging the secret agent stuff.

Bushido #3 (Top Cow)
Martin: Continues to be an intriguing genre mash-up of Samurai & Vampires with some strong art but semi-predictable story.

Buzzkill #2 (Dark Horse)
Infinite Speech: HOLY CRAP!! This just keeps getting better and Shaw makes it look beautifully BRUTAL!!
Jeff: I happen to know that there are no such wine cellars in churches, but I digress…this book is incredible!

catxf 15Cable and X-Force #15 (Marvel)
Jeff: I’m really digging the new artist on this book.
NickZ: This book has great character interactions amid wacky situations. Totally fun.

Captain Ultimate #3 (Monkeybrain)

Jeff Lake: A fun origin tale that shows the man before the mustache. He still needs a catchphrase

Code Monkey Save The World #1 (Monkeybrain)
Infinite Speech: Plain comic book fun right here!

Forever Evil: Rogues Rebellion #1 (DC)
Martin: A fun look at what makes the Rogues tick and why they are consistently DC’s best villains.

Guardians of the Galaxy #7 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Space is a lot cooler since this series started!
Jeff: So…a lot of nothing happens in this issue.

Hawkeye #13 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: This series makes me so happy it exists.
NickZ: FINALLY! HAWGUY IS BACK, BRO!

He-Man and the Masters of the Universe #7 (DC)
Infinite Speech: Still a great series though the art in this one was “meh”.

Imagine Agents #1 (Boom!)
Infinite Speech: Yes! Familiar yet new and fun all at once so do yourself a favor and pick this up!
Jeff: This is a fantastic concept! How has no one thought of it?
Jeff Lake: If only my imaginary friends were this cool; excellent debut that can only get better.

Indestructible Hulk Special #1 (Marvel)
Jeff: This story is extremely fun, but the art leaves much to be desired.
NickZ: Hulk, the Original X-Men, and the Superior Spider-Man? What more could you ask for? Puppies? We got those too!

Invincible #106 (Image)
Dr. Bustos: The magmanites scenes were so disturbing it kind of messed with the rest for me.
NickZ: This book has it all! Awkward family dinner, Super power arm wrestling, frigging Battle Beast! And…it’s still only $2.99! Can’t beat it!

Justice League of America #8 (DC)
NickZ: Did this remind anyone else of that one episode of JLU when Martian Manhunter had to free the other leagers from their nightmares?

King’s Watch #2 (Dynamite)
Martin: There’s a lot jam-packed in here: 3 main characters, various sidekicks, a villanous cult… & fun pulpy action.

New Avengers #11 (Marvel)
Jeff: I’m so damn confused by this “world incursion” stuff.

Red Hood and the Outlaws #24 (DC)
Arnab: I swear this guy was already whole and whatnot, what’d he need the lazarus for?
NickZ: It’s all out war and the team is divided. Who could be responsible? None other than the Devil’s Head himself, Ra’s Al Ghul.

Supergirl #24 (DC)
NickZ: Brainiac and Cyborg Superman duke it out while Supergirl tries to pull herself back together.

ss 19The Superior Spider-Man #19 (Marvel)
Dr. Bustos: Things are changing and we got another hero around.
Infinite Speech: Thank you Dan Slott! Now I’m going to party like it’s 2099!
Jeff: YES! Spidey 2099 is sticking around!
NickZ: Spider-man 2099 fans MUST READ THIS ISSUE! OMG!

Trish out of Water #1 (Aspen)
Infinite Speech: That last page, WOW!

Uncanny X-Men #13 (Marvel)
Jeff: This crossover is about 5 issues too long. But at least Bachalo drew this issue.
NickZ: This was awesome! How cool is future Jubilee? Can’t wait for the next part. Cyclops vs. Jean Grey? hmm…

Wolverine Max #12 (Marvel)
NickZ: Wolverine loses more memories and gets mind controlled by some chick. okay.

Wonder Woman #24 (DC)
Dr. Bustos:
I’m interested to see where Diana goes with her new role.
NickZ: Wonder Woman: God of War?!?! ’nuff said!

X-Men Legacy #18 (Marvel)
NickZ:
Legion pulls one over on everybody only to find that the final joke is on him. Lesson of the day: Don’t F*** with Cyclops.
