After a first volume that was off the charts, you’d think this title would slow down a little…think again. Vasiliy and Ephraim go underground to find out where some of the vampires are hiding. Little do they know, that they stumble upon how the vampires are getting out of the area without going over water. Both men watch as the vampires ride on the back of a train that goes under the water, and takes them to New Jersey. Speaking of Jersey, the gangs there are starting to take back the streets, slowly, but surely. They’ve now enlisted the help of a retired Lucha libre dude that is one bad mutha! Vasiliy and the Professor then go on a hunt for a special book that could possibly end this nightmare, but the Master has other plans!
The depth of this story and development of the ever expanding characters make this book the best horror comic on the shelves. Honestly, it’s one of the best, period! You get to sink your teeth into action, and some of the best back story of a vampire book that’s ever been seen. You blend this all together, and you get a spectacular mix of intrigue, action, and a bloody mess that spells winner!
The artistic team cannot be overlooked either. Huddleston, Jackson, and Gist make more than an impression from cover to cover. The blues, reds, and blacks are what make this book special, when added to the pencils. It’s a combination that is absolutely electric. There was a pretty gruesome page, where we saw the Professor exact some revenge on a vampire that he found from his years in the concentration camps. What he does to that dude is unspeakable! You have to see it to believe it, and trust me, you won’t look at the Professor the same after it! Rating 5/5
