Not only was this book good, it was intense. In a good way, for sure, but very powerful and chock full of great characters that gave the story its punch. It’s almost like a mystery novel, then add vampires, Nazis, and one creepy little girl, and you’ve got a recipe for a big time comic book! The story is quite enjoyable for just about any kind of reader. It’s a multifaceted drama that never slows down. Perfect pacing is the key, and Fabien Nury knows how to get you to sink your teeth into a book, no doubt.
Veteran artist John Cassaday (Astonishing X-Men) brings his “A” game in this series for sure. The creepy little girl and her cat, the action scenes with the Nazis and the strike force, even simply the scenes of dialog grab you and pop right off of the pages. The colorist definitely deserves to be mentioned as well, as she does a fine job with the tones of the book.
The trade paperback also has a few extra pages of artwork in the back. Some very cool stuff that shows the fantastic work that Cassaday and company achieved on this mini-series. There was room left at the very end for more of this story, and hopefully more and more fans (or legions of fans) will get to read this gem, and spread the word about the greatness that is I Am Legion and Humanoids!
