American Vampire #26 (Vertigo)
Arnab: The thing about this series is that every new vampire Snyder creates is just as interesting as the rest of them. A
Jeff: I’m amazed by Roger Cruz’s ability to copy someone else’s style. He’s like that creepy guy who would wear the same thing you did a day later.

Astonishing X-Men #49 (Marvel)
Jeff: I feel like Marjorie Liu is SO CLOSE to writing an awesome X-Men book, but this just isn’t quite it.
NickZ: Can Northstar just get married already?
Andy: Love the art. Love the team. Love Marjorie Liu… why didn’t I love this issue? B-

AVX: VS. #1 (Marvel)
Arnab: Utter nonsense. This book is essentially calling the Avengers winners, but only because the X-Men gave up. Iron Man beating Magneto? Jason Aaron should just stick to writing Wolverine. C-
Infinite Speech: This issue delivers the action the main series doesn’t. I don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing.
Jeff: Now this is what AvX should be like. Why mess it up with a plot? Although Iron Man beating Magneto is a stretch.

Battle Scars #6 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Solid mini series but it takes some of the impact away from the Ultimate version of Nick Fury.

Batman The Dark Knight #8 (DC)
Arnab: This book is starting to feel like the blacksheep cousin of the Bat-family. C
This is the first time this felt like a Batman book. The people killing themselves was crazy.

Crossed Badlands #4 (Avatar Press)
Decapitated Dan: Jamie Delano! Story is a build, but it’s good. Might just be what I need to enjoy Crossed again.

Daredevil #11 (Marvel)
NickZ: So disappointing! Nothing was really accomplished by this 3-part story. Lame.

FF #17 (Marvel)
Arnab: Hilarious. Light-hearted. Exactly what you need after a major event. This is just the book Johnny needed to reintegrate back into the Marvel Universe. A

The Flash #8 (DC)
Arnab: That was a great way of incorporating story time with fighting time. The art is without a doubt one of the best in all of DC. A
Very cool background into the Speed Force and as always the art is so purdy!

The Goon #39 (Dark Horse)
Decapitated Dan: you will not, I repeat, will not read a better comic than this for the next month. So honest, so true, so needed. Skip the AvX crap and buy a real comic!
Infinite Speech: This is comic of the year material right here!

i,Vampire #8 (DC)
Arnab: This was a fantastic crossover. Andrew Bennett is super awesome. A
Decapitated Dan: not how I wanted the crossover to end, but still great. Good build for what’s coming.

Justice League Dark #8 (DC)
Initially I thought this was a weird collective of characters, but it works tremendously well. A
Decapitated Dan: Good stuff leading into the end of the crossover! I want Shade back now, Xanadu is boring, kill her off.

Merciless: The Rise of Ming #1 (Dynamite Entertainment)
Infinite Speech: The world that Alex Raymond created just got that much better!

Mighty Thor #13 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Fraction is slowly turning me into a Thor fan and that’s a huge compliment right there!

Nazi Zombies #2 (Antarctic Press)
Decapitated Dan: Visuals are GORE-Geous! Stories are awesome! Quit sleeping on this company, they are top notch!
Infinite Speech: After reading this I went to look for a Nazi or a zombie to shoot in the face! Fantastic artwork and a great story yet again!

The New Avengers #25 (Marvel)
Andy: If you like Iron Fist, read it. If you don’t care about Iron Fist, punch it the hell out of your pull box! B-
NickZ: That was an interesting history lesson. Can’t wait to see how it will fit in with Hope and the Phoenix.
Infinite Speech: This issue made me miss the Immortal Iron Fist series that Marvel said would be coming back but never did.

Rebel Blood #2 (Image)
Decapitated Dan: beyond horror awesome! This series is the sh!+ read it!! READ IT!!!

Secret Avengers #26 (Marvel)
Jeff: Remender should just be allowed to write everything. However, I think someone needs to tell Renato Guedes that Beast is supposed ot be a cat.
NickZ: 1) I hate Beast more and more. What a tool. 2) Isn’t Jean Grey in the White Hot Room? Where is she??

Snake Eyes #12 (IDW)
Infinite Speech: Even the filler issues are freakin’ fantastic!

Star Wars: Blood Ties – Boba Fett is Dead #1 (Dark Horse)
Infinite Speech: A bit disappointed when this story takes place but damn if it wasn’t a good read!

Superman #8 (DC)
NickZ: This series is so boring that I forgot what had happened in the last issue and was all confused at the beginning of this one.

Teen Titans #8 (DC)
Arnab: In a book featuring many super powered teenagers and adults, Tim Drake is king. A nice prelude into The Culling. B+
Infinite Speech: I wish all of the New 52 could be this fun to read on a regular basis. But they aren’t.
Tim Drake is so cool in this book, no powers and all!

Uncanny X-Men #11 (Marvel)
Andy: Cool. But what the hell is Aqua-Lossus all about? And just give Cyke a cape and helmet already! He’s Magneto, yo!
Arnab: Scott’s letter at the end was F’n fantastic. That one letter was better than AvX #1 and #2. Also, in no world are the Avengers in the right here, at all. All hail Scott! A
Infinite Speech: Wow. I was pretty surprised at the outcome of that fight and that I stayed awake long enough to read this.
Jeff: Scott’s officially a psycho. I miss the old days.
NickZ: Scott’s letter to humanity was so awesome! I loved it!

Voodoo #8 (DC)
Infinite Speech: See my chirp for Teen Titans #8.

Wolverine #305 (Marvel)
Jeff: Paul Pelletier should just be allowed to draw everything. However, I think someone needs to tell Cullen Bunn that Wolverine being mind-controlled is tired.
NickZ: I miss Jason Aaron already 🙁
Andy: Man, I love Cullen Bunn’s Sixth Gun over at Oni, but I cannot get into his Marvel stuff. WTF. C

X-Men: Legacy #265 (Marvel)
Arnab: Christos Gage has brought new life to this series. Rogue is awesome, Wolverine is non-existant (thankfully), and am I the only wanted Mimic and Weapon Omega to share a kiss before Weapon Omega was put into a coma? A
Infinite Speech: Sooo much melodrama in this issue I thought it was a soap opera.
NickZ: So, was it just me or was there something more between Mimic and Weapon Omega?

  1. Billy

    …maybe I should pick up X-Men.

  2. Jeff Jackson

I’m so on the opposite end of the spectrum concerning Scott’s letter. I thought it was ridiculous. Xavier needs to come in and kick everyone’s ass. I think the Avengers and the X-Men are both wrong.

    • What makes Xavier so special? If I’m not mistaken, he’s part of the reason this problem even exists. Him, Magneto, and the Avengers.

  3. Billy

Jeff, I’d love for Xavier to be back in control of the X-Men. That’s part of the reason I stopped reading/buying.

  4. Decapitated Dan

Where the hell are the rest of my chirps? 🙁

    • I can’t imagine what happened there, apologies. They’re all up now.

  5. Decapitated Dan

Thanks buddy, I give you Internet hugs

  6. Creepy Uncle Eli

Scott, with his comments about them [the Avengers] wanting to take the mutant messiah and his letter, is being written as an even bigger puss than normal. Can he get any more like a little girl? We’ll see…

Avengers vs X-Men VS #1 is completely ridiculous and stupid.

Note to Marvel writers: Magneto is the master of magnetism. He controls magnetism. Someone attacking him with magnetism should NEVER work. Whats next, someone attacks Iceman with ice from Pluto? Whoever came up with that is an idiot. Plain and simple. They should lose their job.

  7. Creepy Uncle Eli

Oh, Ian, I completely support your boycott of ‘The Fight of the Week’ because of the utter horribleness of AvX VS #2. Well done.

  8. The letter was perfect but I do agree that Xavier should be around and have some say in what’s going on. Where the hell is he? He’s been in like 1 comic since schism.

  9. Xavier is on an island sippin’ drinks and getting all the ladies to love him!
