Coming from Com.X this April is the original graphic novel, Seeds, written and illustrated by Ross Mackintosh. This is Mackintosh’s first graphic novel, and in Seeds, he tells his touchingly human journey in dealing with his father’s battle with cancer.

Com.X publisher, Benjamin Shahrabani, had this to say about Seeds, “Ordinarily this type of book is outside the scope of what we would normally publish, but we were profoundly touched by Ross’ storytelling and felt we had to release his book. Cancer has affected almost everyone in some way or another – our company’s inner circle included – which is what influenced our decision to publish Ross’ book. Whilst we can’t be sure what the demand will be for such a title, [we] know that at the very least it deserves an audience. We also hope that such a book might provide some modicum of comfort and support to others touched by this tragic disease.”

Ben’s words definitely ring true for many of us; I lost my grandmother and aunt to cancer, as well as my mother in law back in 2009. Look for Seeds in stores this April, and stay tuned to ComicAttack.net for a review of the book.

  1. For a publisher to be willing to go outside their normal criteria just so a work they think is great can be seen by a larger audience is just cool. Great things happen when people step out of the box so a big hand to Com.X for doing this!
