Turok, Son of Stone Issue #1
Publisher: Dark Horse
Writer: Jim Shooter
Artist: Eduardo Francisco

I know you’re gonna hate me for this one, but: Tur-rocks! Couldn’t help that one, but honestly, Dark Horse’s latest in their line reviving Gold Key heroes of yesteryear, is a worthwhile read, packed with Native Americans versus dinosaurs action! Written by Jim Shooter with art by Eduardo Francisco, the first issue of Turok, Son of Stone is fantastic. Like Magnus, Robot Fighter, we are supplied with non-stop action and solid writing.

Shooter has scripted another fantastic revival, re-telling the story of Turok, who along with some rivals, accidentally falls through a time hole and ends up in a sort of land of the lost, filled with dinosaurs and adventures. Shooter has set up a great base for these characters, in which we see their fears and humanity as they try to kill each other, as well as the effects of suddenly being thrown into this unknown world. Francisco’s art is also fantastic and his action scenes are beautifully laid out, making you not want to miss a page.

As a bonus, Dark Horse has included the first Turok story from 1954 in the issue; always a nice touch, guys. Turok rode onto stands this week. Pick it up today!
