Hello everyone and welcome to the first of many reviews from my pull list. First up; War of Kings: Who Will Rule? (one shot).

Paul Pelletier

First off this is a one-shot that kind of ties up some loose ends, but also serves as a spring board into the next phase of War of Kings. Let me just say that for anyone out there that didn’t read War of Kings, boy did you miss out, and this one-shot was absolutely incredible! Without spoiling too much, I will just say that you get to see what the Starjammers are up to, plus we get a peek into the emotional side of Gladiator. The comic shows us the funeral of Lilandra and the chaos that ensues during that solemn event. The writing is top notch as usual. Abnett and Lanning (Nova, Guardians of the Galaxy) are the best writing team Marvel has in my humble opinion. Pelletier has a fantastic grasp on all these cosmic players as well. This book is easily 4.5 out of 5.

Next up we have Dark Reign The List: Avengers

I loved this issue. It is also a one shot, but it is part of a bigger picture in that Norman Osborn has compiled a “list” of people he wants eliminated. The story begins with him telling his right hand man Ares that certain heroes need to be taken out of the picture. Well without giving you a play by play, in this book you will see Hawkeye (Ronin) infiltrate Avengers Tower and cause all sorts of mayhem. Basically it’s him vs. Bullseye, Daken, Moonstone and Ares. Yeah the odds are stacked against him to say the least. 4 out of 5.

Lastly we have Dark Avengers/Uncanny X-Men: Exodus

Conclusion!!! It doesn’t get more final than that folks. Well actually with comics nothing is ever final, but anyway this issue marks the end of the Dark Avengers/Uncanny X-Men Utopia storyline. It was a great issue for battle scenes that’s for sure. You see Sentry vs. Namor, Cyclops vs. Norman, and even Emma Frost let The Void loose to get Sentry out of the way. Now this demented scheme backfires a little bit but I wont ruin it for you. This is a must read for Utopia readers and X-fans for sure! The artwork was solid but the writing was mediocre. 3.5 out of  5.

I love that Namor/Sentry cover, that’s just sick. And yes, War of Kings was quite a joy. Kind of took me back a little bit to Starlin’s cosmic stuff.

    Nice reviews! Love the pictures!

Lilandra died? Where did that happen? I was dreading some War of Kings, but the last issue I picked up was uh…. The mini-series that set-up the main War of Kings book and all the spin-offs. I can’t remember what it’s title was. All I remember is it has the Starjammers busting out of Vulcan’s prison.

The List: Avengers was pretty good, but I’m getting kind of annoyed with this mess of continuity they’re creating.

  4. Kristin- She was killed by Darkhawk in War of Kings #3 I believe… it could have been #4.

Hey Kris and Andy. Lilandra’s death was indeed in War of Kings: Ascension issue #3 of 4.

billy, those muscular guys on the cover remind me of my husband!!!!! he’s a good guy so which character would he be most like?
