Adventure Time Fionna & Cake Card Wars #4 (Boom!)
NickZ: Just as Cake was killing it at Card Wars, enter Marshall Lee!

Age of Apocalypse #5 (Marvel)
NickZ: I was already loving this series, then this issue had Jean Grey being a badass and having great moments with Cyclops and I couldn’t be happier!

Astro City #28 (Vertigo)
Martin: 3.5/5 stars. Another strong character-driven story, focusing on a B-level type Australian hero. Good, solid story & art.

Batman & Robin Eternal #3 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. I’m really liking the focus on Spoiler & Cassandra Cain but I still feel the title of the book is wrong.
NickZ: Not too impressed with this issue, there is too much focus on just Dick Grayson and not the rest of the Robins.

Bizarro #5 (DC)
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. Still the best of all of the E-rated books in the “DC You.” I’ll be sad when this title wraps next issue.
NickZ: There were some really good easter eggs and homages in this issue.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer #20 (Dark Horse)
NickZ: A really well done issue about women dealing with the aftermath of sexual assault.

Cognetic #1 (Boom! Studios)cognetic 1
Infinite Speech: A slow start but this creative team hasn’t let me down yet so I’m sticking with it!
Martin: 4/5 stars. An intriguing start to a short 3-issue series. Dark, apocalyptic horror with a clever use of art, colors & lettering.

Darth Vader #11 (Marvel)
NickZ: I really do enjoy this series but I feel like it makes Darth Vader out to be a wimp.

Dr. Fate #5 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Another strong “DC You” book, with a fun, quirky art style & a very relatable “every man” main character.

The Fade Out (Image)
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. Brubaker & Philips know how to build the anticipation as they move toward the conclusion. Highly recommended.

Gotham Academy #11 (DC)
NickZ: An odd cameo apperance by Red Robin but totally worth it to see his interactions with Maps!

Invincible #124 (Image)
NickZ: There is something so funny and so sad about Mark being trapped in his past.

Ivar, Timewalker #10 (Valiant)
Infinite Speech: So that ending looks kind of “final”! But this is comics and that word doesn’t mean much!

Journey to Star Wars FASE #4 (Marvel)
NickZ: After reading this, I need a series where Luke goes around kicking empire ass and generally being a Jedi badass!

Justice League #45 (DC)justice league 45
Infinite Speech: The status quo just changed in a MAJOR way and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Martin: 4.5/5 stars. I love Fabok but Manupul’s art was also fantastic in this. My main complaint is Diana’s lack of involvement
NickZ: The death of Darkseid was only the beginning of their problems. Francis Manapul’s art is on the next level!

Karnak #1 (Marvel)
Infinite Speech: Karnak has always been my favorite Inhuman and this is starting to look like a title I’ll be buying for a while!

Lumberjanes #19 (Boom!)
NickZ: The girls really get in over their heads this time! (Get it? Because they are underwater?)

Martin Manhunter #5 (DC)
Martin: 4/5 stars. Very creative, different sci-fi take on J’onn J’onzz. The Mr. Biscuit scenes are among the best this month

Superman Wonder Woman #22 (DC)
Martin: 3/5 stars. The emotional impact of what happened this issue is negated by a complete lack of emotion.
NickZ: A very emotionally charged issue where both of Superman’s women take a smack to the face (one literal and one metaphorical)!

Teen Titans #12 (DC)
NickZ: This book is just a train wreck. TBH, I really only read it for Red Robin.

Titans Hunt #1 (DC)
NickZ: I’m officially intrigued by how they are going to explain this.

tithe 6The Tithe #6 (Top Cow)
Infinite Speech: Hawkins expertly captures the current religious tensions and mixes it with the right amount of crime drama in one of the best comics out today!
NickZ: This series is great on so many levels! There is literally something for everyone!

Tokyo Ghost #2 (Image)
Infinite Speech: A deep origin tale that further builds the world and moves the story in a great way! Can’t wait for the third issue!
NickZ: This issue was even better than the first! We really got to know more about the motivations of these characters.

The Uncanny Inhumans #1 (Marvel)
NickZ: Beast is NEVER on the side of mutant kind! Cyclops should have killed him right along with Xavier!

Wonder Woman #45 (DC)
NickZ: This issue was insane! For being the God of War, Wonder Woman sure does get beat down a lot in the name of peace.
