Hey everybody, welcome to another character spotlight, right here in Marvel Snapshot! In this week’s edition, we’ll be checking out a race of beings from space that have been terrorizing other races for a long time. Yes, it’s the Kree we’ll check out today, so get ready for some laser guns, blue skin, and a military force to be reckoned with! The Kree were created by Stan Lee and Jack “King” Kirby (Fantastic Four #65, 1967).

The Kree first reared their heads in the pages of the Fantastic Four, but they really took off in the Avengers universe. Specifically in the Kree-Skrull War! That story was a fantastic tale that featured the Skrulls trying to replace and coerce American politics. Captain Marvel then approached the Avengers, and they had to quell a force led by Ronan the Accuser. Next, some of the Avengers were abducted by the Super Skrull, and taken to their home world. As the remaining Avengers head out to space to find their comrades, they see an armada of ships that the Skrulls have ready to attack Earth. The Kree, however, are also ready to attack them. Also, back on Hala, the Supreme Intelligence and Ronan the Accuser are at each other’s throats over just about everything. That story really went out with a bang, so pick it up!

Operation Galactic Storm was another example of the cosmic stories involving the Kree when they went to war with the Shi’Ar this time around. During this one, the Shi’Ar opened up a wormhole that put the Earth in danger by jeopardizing the Sun. The Kree then had a nega-bomb go off accidentally in space, and that destroyed most of their planet. They soon after surrender, but in the end it was discovered that the Supreme Intelligence set the bomb off to jump start the Kree’s genetic development.

We also get to see the Kree in Annihilation, and a ton of them were wiped out during that invasion by Annihilus and his forces from the negative zone. Later, in Secret INvasion, Noh-Varr becomes an agent on Earth and even takes up the mantle of Captain Marvel. After that, the Inhumans assault Hala and overthrow Ronan. The planet is now under their control.

As usual, check out my recommended reading list along with some of the best issues featuring the Kree! Enjoy!
