South Fellini & High Treason Preview: D.O.G.S. of Mars

Capture

Zoe is the swashbuckling captain of Earth’s first Martian colony. Isolated on the farthest frontier of civilization, order breaks down when unfamiliar hostiles invade. Zoe faces mutiny, death and dishonor; she must sacrifice her humanity if she hopes to survive.

High Treason Pictures and South Fellini are teaming up to bring you D.O.G.S. of Mars. The story follows a group of astronauts, marooned on Mars, who are being stalked by a nocturnal monster. High Treason Pictures, the producers behind the award winning Bigger, Stronger, Faster and The Best and The Brightest starring Neil Patrick Harris, have chosen D.O.G.S. of Mars as their next film and they have teamed with South Fellini to bring you the graphic adaption of said film.

I know a cliché is that movie makers snatch-up amazing comic books and make them into mediocre films. High Treason wants to be part of the creative process from the beginning. We’re looking at this as a stage of preproduction,” explains Patricia Weiser, Director of Development of High Treason Pictures.

South Fellini, the digital studio composed of the writers and artists who for DC, brought you the amazing digital comic about a vampire orphanage for girls run by strict Catholic Nuns, LaMorte Sisters. If you visit their site [http://SouthFellini.com] you can get links and updates for all their projects, including Carnivale De Robotique for Comixology.

High Treason is planing to begin production on the film next year, and the four issue mini-series will be released in January 2011 on Comixology in anticipation of the film. D.O.G.S. of Mars will be written by Tony Trov, Johnny Zito, and Christian Weiser, and illustrated by Paul Maybury with covers by Rhazzah, the artist behind the critically acclaimed Moon Girl Fights Crime.

We take you to the edge of the future and find that people haven’t changed all that much. Things go ‘Lord of the Flies’ pretty quickly and these characters discover who their friends and enemies really are,” says Tony Trov.

“Paul Maybury is doing a sick job on the art. The designs are very industrial with splashes of steampunk and Japanese gore splattered about. His vision of the monster is a grotesque, alien twist on a classic,” continues Johnny Zito.

This looks and sounds like a really great project and I can’t wait to see the finished product. With such great talent participating on all fronts, I am sure D.O.G.S. of Mars will be something you won’t want to miss. We will keep you posted, January can’t come soon enough!
