Dynamite Entertainment’s highly hyped Green Hornet #1 debuts today and we have a preview of the issue for you here at ComicAttack.net! Apparently the series is an unproduced screenplay by fan favorite writer Kevin Smith with art from Jonathan Lau. Check it out:
Ok, I know I’m not going to be popular for saying this, but I honestly don’t see what all the hubbub is about. Sure the art looks cool, but the story? Meh. I’m one of the few people digging Smith’s current Batman the Widening Gyre mini-series, but this here? I dunno, The Green Hornet basically looks like a gun-slinging Riddler doing his best Batman impression with Hal Jordan’s mask on. I really don’t get what all the hype is about, at least not from this preview alone. Oh wait- could it be because Kevin Smith is writing the story? Probably. That alone is enough to sucker people in to try out this issue written by a guy who avoids helping out retailers (who sell his product!) by refusing to do store signings.
It’s unfortunate that in a week jam packed with lots of other great lesser-known books like The Sword, Demo vol. 2, Sweet Tooth, and Belladonna, this Green Hornet madness has overshadowed them all. If only we could kick Green Hornet off the plane of comic bookdom for being so fat with inflated hype.

I have to disagree. I always felt this character more full of untapped potential than hype. But I guess one of us can say “I told you so” after we take a closer look(2-3 issues, let’s say).We’ll meet back here so I can rub your nose i…er…that is… to discuss it.
That aside,I would like to say CONGATULATIONS ON 700!!

I always liked Kato more than Green Hornet

apparently this Kato is the daughter of the original Kato. Hopefully that wasn’t changed from the last press release I read a while back. I miss Bruce Lee playing Kato on the campy Batman show and beating the hell out of Robin when they would meet up lol
Oh and Andy, Hal would be wearing the Hornet’s mask due to the Hornet coming out in the 30s and Hal didn’t come out until the late 50s or early 60s if I remember correctly and I think his character actually preceeds Batman. Just some random geek knowledge that I thought I’d toss out lol
